Natural Explorer

Unless noted, the benefits of Natural Explorer apply to and operate within Natural Habitats only.

Benefits

FREE ACTION: The Natural Explorer may use their Free Action to make a Perception check to spot any irregularities – dangerous paths, out of place features, or difficulties in the environment they are viewing. This is done instinctively instead of taking a full action.

  1. Although you do not need it, you are aware of the common (non-mystical) technology within your frame of reference that assists in wayfinding and safe travel and where to get it should you wish, and can plot out the fastest path using them.
  2. You have an ingrained sense of wayfinding – you remember all roads and pathways, weather, climate, and terrain you have traveled in assessing most efficient travel paths.
  3. Efficient Travel: You gain the Trail Blazer capability.

  4. You remain normally alert to dangers in the natural environment while traveling even when engaged in another activity such as Foraging, navigating, or Tracking.
  5. If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal walking (primary locomotion) movement rate unless your size, physiology, and/or habitat makes you obvious.
  6. Efficient Foraging: If you dedicate an entire Short Rest Cycle to Foraging, you can forage a small number of subsistence meals for a number of similarly sized characters.
  7. In any natural habitat, and for all natural creatures you gain Advantage when Tracking.
  8. In any habitat, you gain +1 on any communication check if you can observe the pack, tribe, herd, culture and/or society of those you are trying to communicate with, using subtle elements.
  9. When Unfettered and unimpeded, your normal locomotive movement rate is equal to your best of the movement rates of any mobility skills you are proficient in.

  • Efficient Travel: A number of other characters equal to your character level + Wisdom modifier.
  • Efficient Foraging: A number of characters equal to your character level + Wisdom modifier.

This is one of a multitude of “Natural Potential” features. The character gains a +1 on all activities related to surviving, travel, exploration, and mobility in a Favored Habitat.

Swimming (diving)

Swimming is a Mobility Expression reflects …

In addition to being a mode of locomotive movement AND a Skill – walk/run, climb (brachiate), jump (hop/spring), swim, flyeach one can be taken as a Accomplished Activity Trait for the Athletics Skill.

Frame of Reference: All Skills are bound by the character's Setting (physics), and the details that their culture/society's Science (gathered by Technology), direct experience, and/or collective Records are capable of revealing. A character may not be able to apply their full measure on a different world, with different species and tools. With a common frame of reference, multiple specific Lores can stack.

i20 Skills REPLACE d20 skill proficiency: Add the skill level + modifiers to the check ( Proficiency Bonus not used).

A single Result Check to assess Success or Failure AND quality which may be impacted by conditions which indicate a Lack of Capability (Unfamiliar, Unproficient, etc.). The GM can { } Narrate it, and players may request an appropriate impact when anything other than a basic outcome is indicated. Character Points are Rewarded by the GM to improve Skills (and other Features).

Anima Energy Reservoirs

Anima Energy Reservoirs represent an anima energy used to boost, leverage, reveal and express related aptitude (Divine, Kinetic, Occult, Psychic, etc.) powers of The Pattern. Reservoirs are the foundation of Aptitude Talent. Entity’s with Essence, Anima Objects, or Empowered Items and Places may possess these reservoirs and can be tapped into consciously. Almost everything has minute traces of anima locked away and unavailable for conscious use. Reservoirs may be modified through Saturation and corruption factors. Natural [Aptitude] Talents automatically gain this Feature in their related Aptitude, without having to pay any extra cost. Phenomenological Lores grant an awareness of related Anima Reservoirs.

Anima Reservoir Forms

Anima Reservoirs have both a Well and Pool aspect.

  • Anima Well: A reservoir of aptitude/spark based energy that replenishes over time by itself.
    Spent<.mark>” Anima is an amount used to activate or trigger an effect.
  • Anima Pool: A reservoir of aptitude/spark based energy that does not replenish over time by itself. It can be refilled/replaced, but generally, anything in it once used, is gone forever. Any character with a Anima Well, has a related Anima Pool of the same type.

Anima Reservoir Uses

  • Power Activation – Item, Personal, Place, etc.
  • All Anima types may be used as a Simple Boosts for spells/powers related to the reservoir. By default, the amount that can be used on any given power is limited to 1, adjusted by the type of boost, and the governing aptitude measure.
  • With requisite “Material Empowerment” knowledge, it may be used to substitute for a Mystic Focus Point Item or basic Materials for Casting if such is required and not present.

Foundational for capability such as Features (Skills, Traits, etc.), Meditation & Aptitudes acquired with CP or Essence.

    Learning/Acquiring this Capability and Related Aspects    

Acquiring: 2 CP OR 1 Essence cost; Inherent by Species; An Actuated Awareness trigger.

Learning this Feature typically requires either a Primer or an Instructor (personal or Institutional) or must be unlocked through powerful Meditation. The Meditative elements that empower it are tied to the Good Standing status of Institutional members, and once a member leaves they cannot continue affixed them. It takes time and is a service often charged for. If through a Primer, it requires related Phenomenological Lore or tutelage represented as experience at Character Inception. Learning powerful and difficult Rituals and Ceremonies may Actuate and/or contribute to the energy pools for Chi, Focus, Mana, and/or Synergy. If successful, the character gains an Initial Potential:
