The Greykin Hill People are ancient descendants of the Nurth raiders breeding with captive Ilbarsi humans. At this point, the hill folk are fairly civilized and choose to live more in isolation in The Bromarre Stretch due to a shyness and fear of outsiders than any lack of intelligence. Their skin is grey, clearly indicating their nurth lineage. They live off mountain lake fish, cave dwelling millipedes and fish, and mountain goat along with a few wild grains that grow in mountain valleys. They also are responsible for the Candy Cap Mushroom Harvest. These people have slowly grown their population and presence over time. Once feared and killed on site, their helpful nature and skill outdoors has led them to a rough acceptance from and even a patriotism of Rhylian culture.
Everything about these folk seems to scream “trying too hard” – they are polite to a point of seeming obsequious and organized & fairly clean to obsession. They try to not offend, knowing their origins and looks put most people off. They have only a single settlement (Nupath) that outsiders are aware of and their true population is open to conjecture.
The folk keep a resting place clean and secure for the Greenwood Knot order who works close with the elves of Haivelaugh Weald, the dwarves of Sun Stone Top, normal patrols of Barony of Kopriane and even the Greykin Hill People.
Over time, a few lucky souls that have come their way and discovered how truly generous and family oriented they are have joined the tribe, usually through finding a mate, and have settled in well. This has kept the bloodline from being too insular.
The World watchers and Rangers have good relations with these people, they help feed them and maintain Highglade Point. The Kemethian Fisherfolk also have good relations with the reclusive hill folk, they trade reed mats, sheep and pelts with them in exchange for the sweet mushroom fed millipedes.

One of the Notable Places and Geographical Features of the Grand Duchy of Rhyl are the Mushrooms of Rhyl. The many forests and moist environments as well as the Wylden quality have made it famous for its mushrooms.
Mushroom Sustenance: The myriad of mushrooms is a major source of protein and grown and harvested in both domesticated areas and protected wild ones.
The power of Rhyl’s natural bounty and Wylden many times creates faerie rings in the forest, and causes strange and powerful mushrooms to grow naturally in certain areas. The mystic effects of the rarer ‘blooms’ naturally draws strange and wondrous defenders. Whispers of strange mushrooms, like Fremlie Fold of elven origins, are rife throughout the north. Despite repeated attempts, the Criminal Presence in Rhyl has never been able to restrict access to or control the Mushrooms of Rhyl.
The forests have several minor anima fonts and powerful Laey Lines. Some of the mushrooms that grow in Rhyl are a direct result of this. These mushrooms are capable of being mixed into a solution that can be used as Spell Components to increase the potency of a spell. They must be mixed in a specific ratio, this mix is referred to as the “Bonnet Cap” of Rhyl.
Wyld Constraints: Repeated efforts to domesticate these by Quizmans Magisterium in Rhyl have failed. In fact, concerted attempts to organize harvesting in the wild have failed due to the influence of Wylden. Something about Rhyl’s strong attachment to the Laey prevents anything but individual foraging from evert turning up more than Dryad’s Fireknot.

The Candy Cap Mushroom Trade Pipeline: The Greykin Hill People have handled the Candy Cap Mushroom Harvest the Candy Cap Mushrooms of Rhyl. It is a sweet mushroom that only grows in their areas of The Bromarre Stretch with their techniques, and it makes the meat of the huge cave millipedes sweet from consuming it. They trade the millipedes with the The Kemethian Fisherfolk who in turn prepare and sell it to others in the Barony and county as a well known delicacy. Even more rare is the trade in the mushroom themselves – 100 grams goes for 100sc.

Though it is not well known and mostly forgotten, the Mushrooms of Rhyl in the Great Forest of Rhyl have a higher tendency to grow in the areas once Frost Melded; The Wylden of Rhyl somehow influences the areas of the Dragon of Rhyl’s breath was used – sites for hunting or fighting.

The west of the Grand Duchy of Rhyl is dominated by a conglomerate called the Rhylan High Traders. In addition to the open roads outside the forests, they and their affiliates in the wooded areas have come to finance roads and repairs for the benefit of all. This generated much good will initially, and turned them into a power unto their own. Now they have a stranglehold over much of the trade west of the Red March itself. The conglomerate itself is registered as a Trade Organizations/Institution of the Realms, though not all it affiliates.
They have minor political power and great economic power. They determine a lot of which mercenary companies are in favor and hired in their territory, sometimes at odds with the supposed neutral Mercenary Guild of the north.

On The Red March within the Grand Duchy of Rhyl, simply put, the Omachaen Partners handles the buying (very little goods are sold) of the supplies from the local area and from the port at _ that travels along The Red March itself. They are a registered Trade Organizations/Institution of the Realms.
Originally, it was the previous baron of Redmark’s brother, but the split in bloodlines goes back over a thousand years and there is loyalty only to the mission of keeping supplies to North Gate Garrison flowing – and they have proven themselves many times over to be willing to sacrifice to ensure it.
So important is the stability of the flow of manpower and goods along The Red March, this trading house is known to directly interface with the “Mercantile Maids” of Dunstrand faction within House Malor there.

In the east of the Grand Duchy of Rhyl, on the land, the Norblan Hostelers and Haulers are the dominant merchant business and a registered Trade Organization/Institution of the Realms. There are a few small ones, and for the most part, the equilibrium that they managed to settle on has stood for over 400 years and does not look to be changing any time soon. The Norblan Hostelers and Haulers are the most recognized and known merchant organization in the County of Dunaine, all the way west to the The Red March in most cases.
Up against the mountains, the higher danger and higher cost smaller merchants dominate, but taking to the larger markets and to the Red March, the Norblan merchants handle the trade.
In addition to trade in eastern Rhyl, Norblan Hostelers and Haulers operate several hostels in major towns and cities.
