The Law and Legal Procedures in Rhyl follow the standard Laws and Codes of the Realms (Arlaign’s Charter) of the High King. The implementation of the laws and the settlements of disputes are heavily influenced by the Heraldic Boreal Tradition – the primary source of study for Law/Legal Lore in the north/Grand Duchy of Rhyl. The system of incarceration is the same as it is for Prisons and Gaols of the Steel Realms. Records of Commerce, Trade, and Items of Note in Rhyl are covered the normal law and legal procedures.

Defining Ideal: The Grand Duchy of Rhyl has been "The Shield of the North" in the wars of The Noble East vs. The Broken Lands for thousands of years as well as stradling the crossroads of many powers and maintaining a tense peace. The Chronicle of Rhyl shows it first as many fiefdoms of 'The Lands of Rhylan' (CY 5500's), then a united kingdom (CY 5980), then as a duchy of the High Kings' kingdom of Gladnor (CY 6514). All citizens in the north take the pledge of Rhylan the Living.

Culture: Rhylian ( 'rill', 'rillian') locales have locally flavored experiences, but unless noted, follow general Territories and Fiefdoms properties and all share Common Culture - languages, Character Experience, institutions, Law, etc.

Prisons of Rhyl

Millein’s Dungeon in the capital City of Rhylan is a fiefdom-wide prison for the worst offenders of the Grand Duchy of Rhyl. Most regional offenders of the worst sort are transferred here.

Dunraek Dungeon of the City of Thunderfall is the second largest prison of the Grand Duchy of Rhyl.

The ruins of the The Oubliette of Caramfall was nothing more than a dungeon of the worst order in the old days – isolated on the Bronzed-Edge Tableland. It is nothing more than ruins now, most say haunted – to the extent the undead and Orrish avoid it. It was purposefully destroyed to acknowledge the progress the Duchy has made in CY 7522.

Rhyl Specific Codes, Laws, & Observances

Penalties against violence and disorder are often hardsher here due to the imminent threat faced at North Gate Garrison and Rhyl’s role as “Shield of the North”. Nothing can seriously jeopardize the long flow of the supplies and man power to the North, anything that threatens that is dealt with harshly.

Martial law and necessary changes are obvious along The Red March and North Gate Garrison.

There is a distinct influence of the Freelander Way in the Outlook of executing the laws in Rhyl. It is studied and executed by the Heralds out of the Lodge of the Songbird.
