The Near East is is all the lads on the west side of the Tolkisson Mountain Range. The Far East is all the lands east and north of the Tolkisson Mountain Range. The ancient kingdom of Dundaria (now under control of the Lich Lords) straddles both to the north. To the south is the edges of the Nakrian Empire; Really it is the far north edges of said territory – a massive raised plateau is the heart of Nakria – were native humanity on the planet of Helca originally evolved.
The “Dream of The Noble East” is one day that the creatures of Helca will unite and reclaim The Broken Lands to quell the forces of darkness and evil that continually wrench away progress and peace.
The many cultures and peoples of the region do not have a tidy linear history of developing along side one another, except for the fact that they are all on the continent of Ustermaya. Aside from the native Nakrian human culture, over 9000 years ago in the Common Year reckoning, survivors from a world being destroyed came to Helca, into the Valley of Sighs. The Gods of Darkness followed them, inflicting themselves upon a new world but that world at least contained them. The original “Far East” were the original “Lands of the Dominion” that the refugees who came to Helca claimed. These lands fell to the Gods of Darkness and became The Dark Lands, under the bane of the Sun and the protection of the Curtain of Night. New races and old, variants and mixed blood followed the destruction and healing and unending calamitous struggle that the world finds itself in now.
