The Heart Flame Beacons of Kaald are each on the top of a high peak, and have a set of universal signals for when the undead armies of the Lich Lords March into Kaald across the open stretches. It is a call to assembly and to fight. Elemental water keeps the ice from covering the approach. Earth prevents the beacon bases from cracking under heat. Air prevents clouds from obscuring the beacon. Fire sends the signals. The blood flame fed by the blood of Merkaine priestesses is invisible to the undead. The function of the Heart Flame Beacons of Kaald is very similar to the The Hornguard of Rhyl.

They were made by the World-Daughters of the Elemental Consorts. These are beacons manned and lit by The Fire Within followers of Merkaine and The Rimeguard of Kaald with their soldiers in order to send status and warning across vast distances while alerting the people in between at the same time.

The Ceremony of the Greathall’s Flame is performed each year at each Beacons.

The Red Sunset Beacon is not part of the network, but shares many of the traditions with it.
