Frostfang – Biting Wind of the North

Steel Realms

Also called “The Murderous Storm”, the biting Frostfang is a Powers (wielded and released) of the Lich Lords of Djerduth. This flesh-stripping wind of eternal winter is the power that the Lich Lords used to conquer (whispering the Cold Bargain to those who were receptive) and bring the killing cold over the lands of the ancient Kingdom of Dundaria. Its power and signatures are unmistakable, and the root of the power of the Lich Lords.

No effort, singular or combined, has ever been able to force its retreat. It has withstood even the direct combined might of the Unholy Trio.

It is well known that the powers of Merkaine and Aerna work best to fight against the cold death of the Frostfang.

Chronicle/Facts of the Frostfang

Knowledge is broken down by ease of discovery/availability & Meticulous Record Keeping may improve usability; Any attempt to know more than what's Pervasive will require a reference, source, knowledge, check, or access to someone who can get or provide either of these. Specific Lores may increase the chance of knowing specific elements.

Pervasive Knowledge / Very Easy Difficulty

For those native to or long-dwelling in the region, ALL Common Knowledge may be Pervasive.

The Frostfang is the wind that strips the flesh from the bones of the living of froze them in ice forever.

Common Knowledge / Easy Difficulty

For those native to or long-dwelling in the region, ALL Common Knowledge may be Pervasive.

The Revening” – Those the Frostfang envelops and kills turn into Revenants that seek out their kin to sever any ties to life they once had.

It was said that the terrible Frostfang is the source of the power known as “The Shattering“, as was responsible for many of the Shattered Cities of the north.

Uncommon Knowledge / Average Difficulty

In some cases, the Frostfang even stripped Essence, leaving behind a black orbs of the Frozen Souls. It encases all in its icy bite of cold rain and wind, freezing in a deathly grip and preserving them forever with their death masks.

Scarce Knowledge / Hard Difficulty

The last time its full power was known to be wielded, it took all the combined power of the Lich Lords and they were defeated in the Battle of Sunsplint Fields. It was there discovered that Theodrose and his retainers were immune to its power – their narrow remaining bond to the Lich Lords still protecting them. They can see and move through it and utterly ignore its affects just like the armies of the Lich Lords. Theodrose and his warlocks were able to carve out some of the power of The Frostfang, casting it across the top of the Tolkisson Mountain Range peaks, tearing it into pieces where some remain to this day.

Rare Knowledge / Very Hard Difficulty

It did not seem to be what the Lich Lords themselves expected – after the initial grab of power, the Lich Lords of the Fallen North went quiet for many years; they were unprepared.

A Drawing of Power: It is believed that both the walls (The Autumn Wall and The Blue Wall) hem in the power of the Lich Lord. Their own strength relies on some power that draws away the killing cold blasts of the Frostfang that would push its icy embrace across the lands. In addition to their own mystical manifestation, these walls also siphon some small bit of power from the Frostfang winds, feeding their own capabilities and exchanging, diverting or altering the actual weather in their area – diminishing it in Kaald and exchanging it on the The Autumn Wall at North Gate Garrison casting its cold temperatures and windows to disperse in Great Forest of Rhyl.
