Anima Energy Reservoirs

Anima Energy Reservoirs represent an anima energy used to boost, leverage, reveal and express related aptitude (Divine, Kinetic, Occult, Psychic, etc.) powers of The Pattern. Reservoirs are the foundation of Aptitude Talent. Entity’s with Essence, Anima Objects, or Empowered Items and Places may possess these reservoirs and can be tapped into consciously. Almost everything has minute traces of anima locked away and unavailable for conscious use. Reservoirs may be modified through Saturation and corruption factors. Natural [Aptitude] Talents automatically gain this Feature in their related Aptitude, without having to pay any extra cost. Phenomenological Lores grant an awareness of related Anima Reservoirs.
Anima Reservoir Forms
Anima Reservoirs have both a Well and Pool aspect.
- Anima Well: A reservoir of aptitude/spark based energy that replenishes over time by itself.
- Anima Pool: A reservoir of aptitude/spark based energy that does not replenish over time by itself. It can be refilled/replaced, but generally, anything in it once used, is gone forever. Any character with a Anima Well, has a related Anima Pool of the same type.
Anima Reservoir Uses
- Power Activation – Item, Personal, Place, etc.
- All Anima types may be used as a Simple Boosts for spells/powers related to the reservoir. By default, the amount that can be used on any given power is limited to 1, adjusted by the type of boost, and the governing aptitude measure.
- With requisite “Material Empowerment” knowledge, it may be used to substitute for a Mystic Focus Point Item or basic Materials for Casting if such is required and not present.
Learning/Acquiring this Capability and Related Aspects
Acquiring: 2 CP OR 1 Essence cost; Inherent by Species; An Actuated Awareness trigger.
Learning this Feature typically requires either a Primer or an Instructor (personal or Institutional) or must be unlocked through powerful Meditation. The Meditative elements that empower it are tied to the Good Standing status of Institutional members, and once a member leaves they cannot continue affixed them. It takes time and is a service often charged for. If through a Primer, it requires related Phenomenological Lore or tutelage represented as experience at Character Inception. Learning powerful and difficult Rituals and Ceremonies may Actuate and/or contribute to the energy pools for Chi, Focus, Mana, and/or Synergy. If successful, the character gains an Initial Potential:

Initial Potential: CP = Proficiency Bonus + 1 per applicable Aptitude = # {appropriate anima}; double Proficiency Bonus if Essence used.

OPTIONS:
- An institution or mentor may lead a character through Potential Testing.
Adjusting/Developing
Return Rate: Reservoirs replenish through Rest, which can be enhanced by Meditation.
- Releasing Potential: Sacrifice of Essence permanently = +1 Point per related Aptitude (min. 1); Increased if sacrificed at a moment of Actuated Awareness. Whenever a Channeler Releases Potential for their related reservoir, they gain an extra 1, 2 if done during Actuated Awareness;
- Experience Reward: A Reward granted by the GM or an Encounter.

- Return Rate = 1/Short Rest, All/Long Rest
- Releasing Potential: Sacrifice if 1 Essence permanently = +1 Point per related Aptitude (min. 1); If spent during a moment of Actuated Awareness, increase by 1.

Synergy Reservoir ( Divine Anima)

A Synergy Reservoir is the Divine form of Anima Reservoir (granting both Well and Pool). This energy is also used to make and/or trigger Divine Empowered Items and Places. The act of manifesting specific Divine Power/Capability using Synergy (see hereafter) is referred to as Adjuration.
This reservoir grants a measure of the Anima energy known as Synergy.
Feature Type: Divine
Acquiring and Improving Synergy Reservoirs: Follows standard Anima Reservoir’s methods. Its applicable aptitude is Divine.
In the still cold of your thoughts, your mind is cleared of all things except one focus: your faith. In the unrelenting dark, a mote of light appears. The mote becomes 2, until a swirl dance before your inner eye. They swirl around you until you feel like a strand of energy connects to you as they enfold you in their embrace. Once the embrace of the divine has left you feel another conduit stretching across time and space, another bond between you and your faith.

Mana Reservoir ( Occult Anima)

A Mana Reservoir is the Occult form of Anima Reservoir (granting both Well and Pool). This energy is also used to make and/or trigger Occult Empowered Items and Places. The act of manifesting specific Occult Power/Capability using Mana (see hereafter) is referred to as Casting.
Feature Type: Occult
This reservoir grants a measure of the Anima energy known as Mana.
Acquiring and Improving Synergy Reservoirs: Follows standard Anima Reservoir’s methods. Its applicable aptitude is Occult.

Focus Reservoir ( Psychic Anima)

A Focus Reservoir is the Psychic form of Anima Reservoir (granting both Well and Pool). This energy is also used to make and/or trigger Psychic Empowered Items and Places. The act of manifesting specific Psychic Power/Capability using Focus (see hereafter) is referred to as Asserting.
Feature Type: Psychic
This reservoir grants a measure of the Anima energy known as Focus.
Acquiring and Improving Synergy Reservoirs: Follows standard Anima Reservoir’s methods. Its applicable aptitude is Psychic.

Chi Reservoir ( Kinetic Anima)

A Chi Reservoir is the Kinetic form of Anima Reservoir (granting both Well and Pool). This energy is also used to make and/or trigger Meditative Channelings Kinetic Empowered Items and Places. The act of manifesting specific Kinetic Power/Capability using Chi (see hereafter) is referred to as Demonstrating.
Feature Type: Physical
This reservoir grants a measure of the Anima energy known as Chi.
Acquiring and Improving Synergy Reservoirs: Follows standard Anima Reservoir’s methods. Its applicable aptitude is Kinetic.
Meditative Flows
The following capabilities can be enacted using Chi, but requires Meditation.
- Sense Augmentation: Meditation can be used to increase an already existing Enhanced Sense for an encounter at the cost of 1 Chi per point of adjustment.
