Resource Accord with Rhyl: The active version of the Rhylan Weald Accordance that govern resource management is carved upon a preserved tree stump in the City of Klyben in the North District of Klyben for all traders to be able to reference. Per this accord the elves post signs using bright yellow ribbons (from Ten Stacks) to mark their Weald Boundaries.

The South District of Klyben is one of the two districts (separated by Killean’s Stream) of the trade City of Klyben in the Principality of Rhylan of the Grand Duchy of Rhyl. The south district has the main wide road running through it with homesteads in a square with a few taverns and a lot of cheap worker dwellings.
+ Hartwood Presence: This location leans heavily to the Wyld Faith, and has the presence of both Rhylian Briarwood and Rhylian Beastwood.
Competing Occultists: The competing occultist specialty shops operate out of separate districts to ensure there is no clash. The Ten Box Chemists (Rhylander Green Conjurists) in the South District of Klyben and Quizman’s of Klyben out of the North District of Klyben. The Gangs of Klyben stay away from both.
On the south quadrant of the area bordering the North District are all the specialized cottage industry shops and services and workers.
Dillon Antique Village: The South District also has several small antique shops in a raised walkway area called “Dillmon Village” – it is a miniature model of the town with antique, milliner, scarf and glove (including the best work gloves) shops with a tavern on one end.

Council of Rhylan is a council in the Principality of Rhylan. While the entirety of Rhyl is a Grand Duchy, the agreement that made it such consolidated all the older kingdoms and the semi-united Kingdom of Rhylan and gave some of the ruling families power in a large central principality as Magistrates of a ruling council. They share in the profit of the Rhylan trade as part of the charter of the Grand Duchy.
Nominally, the Council of Rhylan is the body that tries to settle disputes in the clashes between the the ancient Old Rhylan Kingdoms Lineages on the council and the administration of the shared resources granted in The Rhylander Compromise doctrine.
The city of Klyben centralizes a lot of trade crossroads and flow of goods and factions of the Council of Rhylan are constantly struggling for more control in this place.
This is far from complete. There are small resources and even just agreed upon % of profits administered by other new peerage or even institutional authorities granted by The Rhylander Compromise – such as the 1% of all profits from Klyben, for example.

The City of Klyben is a trade city in the Principality of Rhylan. It is now a principal city of the duchy, with a large amount of trade going through it to ports on Lake Caolite. It was a city that originally grew on an Inn and caravan stop. It’s still predominantly a stopover and consolidation point for trade rather than a primary living destination.
Population: 35-40,000
There’s a North District of Klyben and South District of Klyben, separated by Killean’s Stream and lowland depression where rice is grown. There’s a stone road through it and a short but big stone bridge where they have channeled water into the depression. The city is unwalled, and sprawling. The city keeps a large patrol on the bridge and a guard house that keeps trade flowing night and day and keeps the rowdier parts of the traders and merchants from spilling over into the town on the south district.
Heart of Trade: The city of Klyben centralizes and is a crossroads of Commerce, Trade, and Items of Note in Rhyl with the flow of goods and factions of the Council of Rhylan are constantly struggling for more control in this place.
Crime: Though this place may have a couple local gangs, the Rhylian Criminal Presence is mostly through The Dead Hand; The troubleshooters of the local guilds generally keep a tight lid on crime.

The War of Rundleman’s Revenge was a campaign in the south of the Grand Duchy of Rhyl in CY 9041. It is a well known part of the History and Events of Rhyl. A force of mercenaries seem to join a host from the Ruary area and the combined ‘army’ moved east to capture the area of Arbenants Port (both ports, Arbenants Cleft and the river) belonging to Rhyl. The MErchant City Baron there gathered his own forces and drove them east, into the territory of Rhyl. They moved on to the South Reedland Stretch. It was done aggressively and fast and without provocation or slow escalation as a dispute – it was just violent conquering. It was the first full campaign of its like after hundreds of years of peace between the Merchant Cities of the North and The Grand Duchy of Rhyl. In fact, the Merchant Cities claimed to know nothing of the source of it, claiming mercenary forces had been assembled in small batches and then turned into an army.
CY 9041, Month 3, Day 11 Start of Conflict: Rhylian sailors attack a Merchant City ship in port.
CY 9041, Month 4, Day 30 End of Conflict: A peace is made in victory, but there are a lot of questions. A cover story is made and many back room deals are rumored to have happened to prevent the High King from sending in forces and the ‘polite lie’ was made to save reputations and establish a peace.
CY 9041, Month 3, Day 20 A Merchant City merchant caravan is attacked in South Reedland Stretch and on the edge of Ser-Caynth; Merchant City caravans into Meagensdale Vale stops.
The “war” began as a group of mercenaries began to harry Meargansdlae Vale. It is believed that a local city lord in Ser-Caynth came into some money (from the Twin River Council of Dunstrand?).

CY 9041, Month 3, Day 29 Millhaven Heath captured
CY 9041, Month 4, Day 03 The Hamlet of Almyth captured
CY 9041, Month 4, Day 06 Amstred’s Wish captured
CY 9041, Month 4, Day 10 The Ferrywood Logging Camp set a fire
CY 9041, Month 4, Day 11 Negotiations with brewery forces
CY 9041, Month 4, Day 13 : The butchering of Amstred’s Wish – The forces of Rhyl, a tiny remnant of the Ducal Guards in training hold the line, dying to the last man. The anger generated causes another day of tracking down and killing as many of the locals as they can, effectively wiping out the village and destroying the Moonstone Shrine. This causes a delay in The enemy forces, long enough to move naval & land Ducal forces, and mercenaries into place that outnumber the enemy with their diminished numbers.

Rundlemen Is an old Rhylian family that was absorbed into the merchant cities at about 7,000 common year. They had slowly been drifting away from their Rhylian roots as they were a remote territory on the edge of the kingdoms that once made up for land.
A small handful of Ducal Guard in training at Aender’s Summit +1 scribe that was playing dress up and got ordered along with recruits to the battle to report to the general for a defense of the area. They were late, and ended up with some mercenaries making a secondary defense – all died to the last man, save one, who managed to get away with the idol.
Southdrop Tower was built as a lookout point to help prevent similar incursions. The Merchant Cities of the north were, through back channels, forced to pay to rebuild some of the areas affected.
CAMPAIGN CHRONICLE >> The North Revealed is a Living World campaign set in The Northern Hearthlands/Grand Duchy of Rhyl of the [Fantasy] Steel Realms.
** The source of the following material is from this campaign. **
The Merchant Cities of the north (still denying they were behind it) did not take critical river mouth territory. This would have forced the Navy of Rhyl to shrink and Rhylian citizens would likely have been penalized a increase in travel fare on Lake Caolite and the beyne River due to some “unruly” or “dangerous” element that the Merchant Prinzes would have defined.
The idol that is a symbol of the connection between the Ducal family and the nobility of Kaald in the north was not destroyed. The shrine was re-sanctified and ties re-cemented for the first time in modern times. This positions Rhyl more and more as a intermediary as a trusted peace broker between the High King and the northlands.
The initial provocation by the Rylian sailors was actually a flase flag incident organized by the Merchant Princes.
The blade held by the head of the Rundelman family that would have been a defacto identifier that the Merchant Princes were responsible was never found. It was carried off the battlefield and eventually became the Ten Hands Blade. It was more advantageous for all side to believe the useful lie and publicity and to restore the peace based on it.
