Posted on January 14, 2026 in Steel-Realms

Steel Realms

The Befouled Returnment is a Powers (wielded and released) of the Lich Lords of Djerduth that radiated from an unknown point is Dundaria when the Lich Lords chained the power of Djerduth for their own using. As the wave of power rolled across the land, it spread through the Earth. It affected the plants and roots and clean water of the area – leeching life from the biological forms that it could – though not killing them, giving power to the Lich Lords.

Bodies in the Earth: It affected bodies long trapped in bogs, cave-ins, and natural accidents – raising them as animations and true undead in rare cases. Over the years as they were uncovered, the quiet remains attacked those uncovering them. They were death with as discovered. The effect pushed under the Earth into the borders of Kaald and Rhyl. It happens very rarely now.

It is believed that it was from a wound Djerduth took in battling his Fate that it sprang.

Posted on January 11, 2026 in Steel-Realms

Steel Realms

The Old Rhylan Kingdoms Lineages (also known as the “Old Rhylian Families”), are the families of the original kingdoms of Rhylan.

Nominally, the Council of Rhylan is the body that tries to settle disputes in the clashes between the the ancient Old Rhylan Kingdoms Lineages on the council and the administration of the shared resources granted in The Rhylander Compromise doctrine.

Unique Peerage Title: Established Rulership of the Old Rhylan Kingdoms Lineages are: The honorable Grand Vicount/Countess through the The Rhylander Compromise.

House Hierarchy

The top 2 family houses of old Rhylan vying for the second most powerful house in the The Grand Duchy of Rhyl – the Lyford family (strongest of the two) and Passfield family. These are both part of the Kingdoms of old Rhylan families. The Ducal Family does what it needs to to ensure these are balanced against each other equally, to maintain the peace and stability of the “Shield of the North”. There are an additional 3 more, though these mostly just stick to managing their dedicated resource of the Rhylian Grants and shared resources outlined in The Rhylander Compromise.

Lower Houses of Old

About a dozen other houses vie for control of the rest of the many offices, grants, and shared resources, and the families under them, in turn, license remote and temporary holdings to control in addition to their hereditary family lands, titles, and offices granted or chartered through The Rhylander Compromise.
