The War Brides of Rhyl

Posted on December 29, 2025 in Steel-Realms

Steel Realms

The War Brides of Rhyl are an unfortunate but inevitable outcome of the constant influx of those serving on The Autumn Wall against the Lich Lords. There is a small industry of women and men who seek a young person serving on The Autumn Wall for the Death Benefit money. The excellent pay gives them options and they often trade companionship and even get married on their way to the wall or leave to claim Death Benefits, which is a portion of their full wages. They prey on the young mostly and foolishly often these war brides will then leave real using the money they received to go start their life somewhere else. However, there is a large population of widowers in real life that barely knew their husbands and that are well off enough.

Each Spring Festival of Ezrilus, there is an influx of immigrants coming to the area seeking to offer solace to those going to serve and who have served. They are christened by their faith and wear it proudly. Their motivations vary, but include seeking a life mate (looking for capable, confident mates), and assess any prospects in that light.

The women of the Tea Lodges of Rhyl have a disdain of the culture around the War Brides of Rhyl and you will not find many in their ranks.

Orphans of the War Brides of Rhyl

Due to the extensive use of prostitutes, deaths due to danger, and the War Brides of Rhyl in the constant struggle on The Autumn Wall, there are multiple small and a few large orphanages in The Grand Duchy of Rhyl.

Recovery Operations at North Gate Garrison

Posted on December 29, 2025 in Steel-Realms

Steel Realms
Recovery Operations at North Gate Garrison cover all the operations done to extract the corpses, the wounded, and the equipment from The Autumn Wall at North Gate Garrison. The various faiths represented at The Autumn Wall and the Rhylander Green Conjurists organize most of the Recovery Operations at North Gate Garrison to ensure evil auras, curses, taints and corruptions don’t enter the ranks of those serving or the lands behind the wall.

Rot Mark is an especially dangerous and onerous power that plagues the recovery effort on and behind the wall. By the early CY 7000’s, it was initially very effective, spreading swiftly with terrible consequences. A great deal of lives, gear and supplies were grotesquely ruined. This, combined with the rarer hexation of gear by the power of Corrupting Gaze of Soul Reaver, necessitated the Autumn Reclamation process where supplies, gear, and found items were quickly assessed for harm.

Formal Autumn Reclamation Process: The harm assessment of items and supplies on The Autumn Wall is done to identify and cleanse or isolate items cursed, hexed, or tainted. The wounded, corpses, and items are all taken to the nearest of fortifications or a “Cleanse Lodge” located at the base of the wall near each and there everything is discerned and triaged by healers, mages, and priests. All that pass the harm assessment check are moved to formal designated places for healing, disposal and re-use as appropriate.

Posted on December 29, 2025 in Steel-Realms

Steel Realms
Rot Mark is the defining power of Reek, one of the Lich Lords that commands the north. The corruption of Rot Blight is used to decay torn zombies into skeletons, to flay and skin captives, and to taint and corrupt the living and organic matter. The Rot Mark is an mark of corruption put on gear and left to be recovered and reused by the hospitalers and reclaimers on The Autumn Wall. It is a curse that causes living things it touches and is near to rot and degrade. Rot Mark is known to be the heart of the power for The Suffering Shard.
