The Redgate Mark is often a tattoo that soldiers get for service on The Autumn Wall as well. Unlike Crown Tags, this is done at the end of their first Tour of Duty, using their unit’s name & symbol and dates of service. Once applied, it cannot be taken off. It is used to exempt service for criminals and freedmen alike if service is sought or conscripted.
Ink Source: The tattoo uses the caustic ink known as Kinsbane Blood (named after the Druuzd Lord Jrothar Kinsbane); it is made with Baighent’s Ink and the ichor from the Lich Lords minions and mixed with the pitch from the elder pines of the Gaur Dinuae Forest collected by the elves for this purpose. The ink never fades, and under moonlight it glows a deep blood red color.
Stolen Valor: Those found somehow getting The Red Gate Mark without earning it are dealt with most harshly, execution without exception.
The Bones Scribes are tattooists and all veterans of the North Gate Garrison Tour of Duty. There are shops in a few places in Rhyl that have access to copies of the rolls of the Realms Levy for North Gate Garrison. The Bone Scribes do tattoo, piercings, scarring/burning.
They will even work with bones brought back from service fighting the undead in the north. They work with Quizmans Magesterium shops & members or Rhylander Green Conjurists to ensure that no residual magic is left in such trophies, on the rare occasions they get the request.

The Half Castles of Straff are a set of small fiefdoms in the low hills of the Tolkisson Mountain Range that border on the Duchy of N’Lokrha. Access to these fiefdoms are through the Duchy, though the incentive to take control over them is not to be under the control of the Duchy. Some of the castles and surrounding lands are controlled by half elven/Faerie blood descendants. A few have rotating control by knights of the Duchy. It is a strange set of conditions and alliances, perhaps the oddest in all the realms. The one thing they are unified by is the desire to kill the Orrish and protect their lands… a harsh existence makes a strong people.
The name of the lands all reflect the nature of the fortified capitals of the fiefdoms. In addition to castles, under them are fortifications tunneled into the rock, wrought with alarms, spells, and guards to prevent Orrish from directly tunneling under in into the fortified redoubts.
All of these territories are considered Dominion of the High King Lands means the rulers have given the Sworn Oath of High King’s Service to the High King of the Steel Realms. As with all allies of and lands under the Dominion of the High King, this locale is subject to the Realms Levy.
The Eastern Rampart is the series of fortresses staffed by the Realms Levy hold back the tide of the Orrish and the followers of the Unholy Trio. They are all found bordering the Tolkisson Mountain Range.

White Tears Orphanage is one of the large orphanages in The Grand Duchy of Rhyl. It is located in the city of Saltmarch. It is run by the White Sisters of Aerna. Of all the orphanages in Rhyl, the children who are raised here are less prone to entering society and finding the criminal element. They are more prone to keeping their word and being generally well behaved. Many seek out local apprenticeship and the city watch.
Due to the extensive use of prostitutes, deaths due to danger, and the War Brides of Rhyl in the constant struggle on The Autumn Wall, there are multiple small and a few large orphanages in The Grand Duchy of Rhyl.
