Wylden

Posted on October 15, 2025 in Steel-Realms

Steel Realms

One of the greatest experiences of Rhyl is what Rhylians call the quality of “Wylden“. It is a natural strength of wilderness and wild species that live there. Faeries still exist in the deep forest, the land is bountiful – excessively so, strange mists and fogs drift in places, bizarre creatures appear in the deep woods, there are multiple elven Wealds, a plurality of species makes it a home and coexists (though no single society is particularly ‘tolerant’). Some have even likened The Red March to an ongoing blood sacrifice that stimulates the land. Although the High Temple of Aerna and many Justicars are found here, it is predominantly Green Church and friendly to the Wyld Faith. There are many lines of The Laey in the North, contributing to this impact.

The power of Grave Beckoning is tied to being bound to the Wylden in the north of Kaald and Rhyl.

Certain crops cannot be domesticated here, and many things found in the wild refuse to thrive under domesticated or wither in the face of organized harvesting – especially the Mushrooms of Rhyl.

The Har’ahdu Cunaigh – Aelfpath of Helca twines through the Great Forest of Rhyl.

The Coven of Yog-Thul (Rhyl)

Posted on October 14, 2025

Steel Realms
The Coven of Yog-Thul Witches: Tied to seeress. CY ____ Hags created a dryad daughter named Eshni Yasmheena and corrupted her in their ways, but also poisoned her with elven Fremlie Fold is the “Bent Flower” of the Enthavelaugh Weald to make her lusty. She claimed to be a follower of Ezrilus and drew elvish men into her sexual web. She became pregnant multiple times in the Schan-Karr and each time retreated to her lair of __. She had 7 half elf children – all ‘witches’; They in turn did the same and had seven daughters.

Three generations of a coven and for a half century these witches persecuted the north – Rhyl, The Wyldes, and The Freelands. These women served the Dark God (fiend) Yog-Thul – the thousand years of hunger was what they tried to bring on. Ages of witches saw children abducted and even royal ones sold! The coven wanted to call forth a renewed Yog-Thul.

Dark Altar of Yog-Thul

This god was originally an entity summoned by one of the celestials in their battles with each other. It set itself up once the summoner was dead. IT fled to the far north to escape notice. Worshipped as a god by the faerie creatures and driven into hiding again when the White Dragon S___ became strong enough to kill it. Once again worshiped by the primitive pine tribes as a god when the White Dragon was gone. He built an altar, imbuing it with his own essence and tied to a major Laey Line of the North. It drew power and amplified it, allowing him to project himself

There was a temple of a dark god Yog-Thul that ruled for 200 years around CY 2000 – pulsing with the stagnating heartbeat of something that should not live. It festers. The ‘dark god’ was a spawn of chaos that had woven webs of fate and kept people from coming to the area. IT kept their interest and curiosity at bay.
