Influence

Posted on September 21, 2022 in D20 iCore Skill

[ Feature Impact ] > Positive

Influence is the skillful use of Communication and Social faculties to achieve influence over a target to perform an Influence Activity using coercion, manipulation, inspiration, and reason. It represents a character’s general knowledge of cultural/social norms, values, and expected behaviors; Character lacking this may suffer penalties. Possessing specific Lores on culture and/or species may augment checks or at least offset any penalties. A good initial Reactions check can be very helpful with this. Target must be able to understand the attempt.

All the normal factors of apply, as well as such things as Menacing Bearing.

Bribery: This may be overt (“here’s $50 to look the other way”) or covert (“who wouldn’t like to make a share of the cut for doing nothing”), but it is a promise of some reward that will benefit the target and can (if they are known to be receptive by reputation, direct knowledge or Insight) adjust the attempt to Influence them.

BOUNDED: All Skills and Traits are limited indirectly by a character's Frame of Reference & direct experience; A character with Proficiency may Appraise objects, tools, and processes related to this Feature.

The Flora Bound character is bound to one of the Wealds or similar such faerie community and to the place in which the community physically resides; Ultimately their Essence is bound to the Soul Well the community is party of through this – they willingly sacrifice some of their own to empower it. The character’s well-being is tied to the flora and crops of this home community; Their biological processes are generally enhanced when inside its environs, and weakened when without. The Flora Bound also grants certain benefits at all times and some even allow for further chained bindings to anima sources and natural mystic phenomenon. Flora Bound characters are immune to the effects of Faerie Vexation from their own community. A character may switch their bond to another community by going through a shedding of their current one that takes a Long Rest cycle to accomplish.

PC characters often fall into outsider groups and do not feel compelled to such bindings. They wander far and wide rather than choose the safety and empowerment of their community through the Flora Bound attachment..

EXAMPLE: Being Studious indicates a great scholastic aptitude. This means that the character possesses a rigorous and efficient process for intake and integration of Knowledge. Being Studious does not necessarily mean that retention is perfect, or even long lasting necessarily, but that the quality and quantity is above normal. There is a good chance that such rigor translates to better retention, but it is not always the case.

Time to Acquire:

Cost to Acquire:

Adapted Palette: The sustenance (grains, fruits, meats, etc.) that comes from the bound environment is what the character relies on for their best nutrition. Taking them out of this reduces their Healing rate.

Adapted Senses: Outside of the specfic environment of the bound character, their senses are in slight disarray. This slows their reactions when it comes to Initiative.

Adapted System: The bodily processes are strictly adapted to the environment. Outside of the environment, the bound individual has a weakened immune system and is more susceptible to Disease.
