Concert of the Cats (Soriano)

Posted on June 26, 2026 in Steel-Realms

Steel Realms Logo

The Concert of Cats is a festival every year at the Temple of the Cat that celebrates the cats of Soriano and their success of keeping the rodents away from the vast stores of grain and bread. There is a point in the festival where goats milk, cheese, meats and other goods are set up and a call is made by the servants of the gods to bring in the cats to the Temple of the Cat on the west edge of the City of Soriano.

A channel funnels the working cats into the feast room. In this channel the cats vocalize in anticipation and thanks, echoing through a construct made to amplify it; These vocalizations are the ‘Concert of Cats’.

Many sick and wounded have their healing accelerated, and the dying are comforted and relieved of their pain for days by these sounds that often lead to a peaceful death.

The doorway to each silo of Ishrae’s Grainary is carved with celestial writing and the footing has a place for a small offering tray for meat (cats from the Temple of the Cat) and an indentation for a jug of wine (servitors); The cats feed on the rodents and offerings if needed. Together, they demand very little and provide little but the care of cats and grain mostly through the actions of their followers directly.

The Bread Barges of Soriano

Posted on May 4, 2026 in Steel-Realms

Steel Realms Logo

The The Bread Barges of Soriano are technically sailcraft, not a barge. However, they are wide and stable, slow moving but ensure a continuous safe flow of the bread of The Wheat Fields of Elmond’s Shire and other smaller areas. These sail primarily to the City of Redmark at the start of The Red March – their ultimate destination to feed those fighting on The Autumn Wall.

The Eel-Home of Suhsael Clan of Lizardfolk living in Shelfers Cradle have a special shallow place for the Bread Barges of Soriano to be serviced in case they are damaged in a storm or need to get out of a storm’s way. The lizard folk do not have much care for bread of any kind, and are considered safe shepherds and allies of any of these supply ships.
