There are still a few colonies of Lizard Folk on the western shores of The Roj Sea.

once a shallow inland salt sea. At time of great upheaval, region changed. South end shifted and split. Instead of rivers flowing south of it, they converged into it and part of it drained in a major river to the south. The Dooluin Emirates lost some of the eastern water supply and abandoned their eastern frontier. The north end dropped some, Drake used to be an inland city on a river.

Nanford River of Dunstrand

Posted on July 3, 2023 in Steel-Realms

Steel Realms

The Nanford River flows through the original Vale of Dunstrand. From the east heights of the T’Yendi Hills, it flows a normal color, carrying silt and minerals down from the heights. Originally, it met the mountains and flowed south along what is now The Black Shore, into the Loamwold Cut (now Hoolip Coast), where it flowed out to the sea into ColdStream Inlet (now Coldstream Channel). When the shelf on which the Aragratep Chain of mountains sank in a cataclysm, Westmarch sank and Scar Flow took its place. Dwindor Swamp was created and it created a muddy delta and The Black Shore.

Defining Moment: All of the Riverdans were devastated when, in CY 7950-7986, Nanford River changed course during the Storm Times and Dwindor Swamp became a living things itself and gained the appellation of “Mighty Dwindor”.

The headwaters of this river some from two spurs – one in Broken Feather Hills to the north, and the Valewall Hills to the south.

The Nanford Accord was named after the river, which divided the duchy into trade zones and governed transport.

Blood River (basin)

Posted on November 7, 2022

Steel Realms

The river itself flow into a wide plain where it meets the sea. The red water mingles with the sea producing swirls of color and strange patterns in the waters. The mashes of the basin are filled with strange red tipped catails and hearty swamp grasses. Every so often there is a mass die-off the of basic flora that is unexplained.

Blood River

The Blood River draws its name from the red-brown clay of the basin area, as well as the heavy iron laced sediment in the mountains where the river has its source. The water is unsafe for drinking unless boiled and the steam separated from sediment. It is rumored that an edifice dedicated to some obscure goddess sits deep in the hills near the head waters of the river. Sometimes strange ‘pilgrims’, walking in silence and wearing red sashes are seen heading into the rough hills up the river.

Iron Heavy Headwaters: The iron deposits were never full exploited, due to a constant presence of Orrish in the mountains attempting to secure the rich vein for themselves.

History of the Blood River

Dividing Line: Blood River was once the dividing line of civilized lands and the far north. After The Sundering and the collapse of the settled cost areas, the west was reclaimed by wild tribes and is now broken into the organized areas of the Free Lands and the tribesmen of The Wyldes.

Ancient blood Enmity: In a war between them and Ducateon, over a thousand Fist Warriors were lost over less than a year period. Both sides abandoned the effort and wylding tribes reclaimed few settlements there were and are known to work the dangerous mines to this day, albeit their presence is extremely limited.
