Sovereign of Lions

– This is the dominant order of the faith. The primordial animal archetypes are diverse in their very nature – animistic and their worship is highly localized and specialized as well as incorporated into the Wyld Faith itself, from which it derives any Group/Institution elements.

Cleric (for the Green Church), Druid (for the Wyld Faith) – These are archetypes dedicated to serving and representing the faith in iconic roles as part of their function; Others may be available as Followers at GM discretion – serving as institutional officers, community officers, or simply through Conviction and shared liturgical beliefs.

In addition to their own specific elements of faith, they embrace all the shared elements of the Unified Pantheon of Lightbringers (except where directly contravened).

As such, there are no formal “cults” per se, just groups of followers or Followers who hold loose ideals related to the strengths of the animal(s) as it is important and symbolic to the Follower. Any Follower or believer in a single animal archetype has a general belief in all of them – though may revere others less for their symbolic attachment. There are many localized cults of cat worship – tigers and jaguars far to the south, mountain lions in the north. These are all very secretive and small – reflecting the solitary nature of these hunters. Over the ages, some mountain lions have even adapted for hunting in the darklands and his presence is sometimes paid homage (in fear) even there. The institutional church of Rastur has few places of worship outside the south. It is mostly represented through the Green Church were that churches influence is strong.

Wylder Wends (ranging order of the Steel Realms)

Posted on February 18, 2021 in Steel-Realms

Steel Realms

The Wylder Wends is one of the oldest order of rangers. It was formed by five sworn friends in the age of Second Dominion when the realms west of the Tolkisson Range (what would become the heartlands) were largely unpopulated and unexplored. These friends were loners, all followers of Gaia and the Wyld ways, but each knew that the future would see the realms forged in fire and bound by steel – the Steel Realms. They moved fast and mapped as much as they could, initially their brotherhood in direct service to the druids and the lords of the dominion lands of what became the Fallen East (now the Dark Lands). Now it is part of the World Watcher umbrella of orders. There are never more than about 60-70 members at any given time.

Original Charge: Originally they all vowed to watch the area bordering The Valley of Sighs and scout for things that escaped from it and were a threat to all. The two Dunstrand brothers were added to their brotherhood and traveled back and forth between the warring east (at war with the Orrish to the north in the land of Orrishai) and Gladnor in the west.

  • The PRIMARY goal of this particular order is the protection of Dunstrand vale against perils from outer planes and the darkness of the aberrant and monstrous creatures – no matter their source (Valley of Sighs or not!).

Dunstrand’s Origins: It is said by some that the two Dunstrand brothers of the original Wylder Wends, and their ally Reingol of Nurthland – a nobleman with connections to the nobility of most great houses of the east, and a strange seer – knew the horrific fate of the Fallen East. To that end, the brothers were sent to plant the “seed of the east” in a new place – a place which would eventually become the Grand Duchy of Dunstrand after thousands of years. Haegovel Dunstrand vanished into the Nanford Vale in CY 2294, at the age of 57. Aelivel Dunstrand sought his spirit, and eventually found it, killed by the burgeoning Sea-King clans scouting its western boundaries. Aelivel mapped the entire Nanford Vale, and insisted through Reingold that it be renamed to honor his older brother.

The brothers were said to have both been involved in the ritual of “The Serpents Eye” – dedicated to Sisslenn the king of serpents, now forgotten.

Founders of the Wylder Wends

  1. Aelivel Dunstrand – A human male, from the northern boundaries of the old east, raised on the edges of the Orrish Lands, brother of Haegovel.
  2. Haegovel Dunstrand – A human male, from the northern boundaries of the old east, raised on the edges of the Orrish Lands, brother of Aelivel.
  3. Quarthm – A half-elf female, seeker and priestess of Gaia.
  4. Enech – A human male, a seeker and a twilight watcher.
  5. Chauke – A halfling male, a seeker and beast master of Rastur.
