The capabilities of the Security Systems are a System (operative) Type feature that allows a character to exercise standard Item Operation Interactions on. These interactions represent Accomplished Activities.
Each Setting may have Device/System elements and Technology that enhance Toolkits and Work Stations for making and repairing related materials. Additionally, Frame of Reference, Availability, and Technology may limit what an individual is familiar with or even can conceive of.
The character is practiced in the art of bypassing and defeating security systems. More primitive mechanical locks are ‘picked’ by manipulating the physical components to trigger unlocking them. More sophisticated locks require basic knowledge of bypassing circuits, password cracks/encryption, and lastly fooling biometric locks. Systems may include all manner of monitoring and triggers that may need individual bypassing or an attempt to hack and gain control of a system. This requires Access of some kind.
Breaking is considered normal ‘unlocking’ – which may trigger various alarms or audit logs, etc. Bypassing, where possible, imposes a -4 penalty and leaves no trace. It is usually practiced with a kit of typical equipment like a CAC.
ALL SKILLS ARE BOUND BY A CHARACTER'S Frame of Reference EXPERIENCE.
