Empowered Weapons

Empowered items imbued with great power using Anima energy, and specifically tuned to a particular Aptitude. In order to use the imbued powers of Empowered Items (that are not All-Spark items), you must have the associated Aptitude and/or anima Energy Pool. An item may have multiple Empowerments, each one having its own requirement.

Notation: The item will have noted requirements listed as the Aptitude, the minimum measure to use it, and/or the cost in energy to use it (Ex: Occult 2, 1 Mana).

Elementary Empowered Combat Powers

A basic universal mystic weapon will not require Attunement – it can simply be wielded and all its passive powers will function. Other properties may inhibit this, but by default it can be used without consequence or prohibition. Using anima, the item is imbued with Weaves of The Pattern which enhance its capabilities:

  1. Damaging: The item does more damage than normal.
  2. Durable: The item has more Resilience than normal.
  3. Swift: The item is faster than normal.
  4. True: The item strikes with greater aim than normal.
  5. Heedful: The item draws on universal knowledge enhancing skills and lores.
  6. Enhanced Properties for items with a [Mystical] Drive:

Mystical Drive

A Mystical Drive represents the reason the weapon was made, the weapon is sentient to some degree and can sense the world around it and how its current state is carrying it towards accomplishing the goals around its drive. It makes wielding the weapon and calling on its powers dependent on the wielder accepting the drive as their own Compulsion. The type of Motive Force determines how the weapon’s energy and power is tied to The Pattern. If an item has a Mystic Drive, the wielder must be Aligned or risk losing access to its powers and suffering the effects of an Onus. Items with their own drives can typically have their Affinity and Onus sensed using Aura Sight.

  • Any item can be Singularly Bound, and only the Essence of the wielder it is bound to can engage its powers, and they need not do anything to Align with it (though it may still require Attunement).
  • Despondent Urge: An item which is repeatedly failing to Align with wielders may, essentially, self-destruct. Once triggered (key events or occurrences), the item is consumed by anima energy and vanishes in a mist.

Sentient Drive ties the item with its own intelligence, sensory capability, and will. The item has a Purpose (manifesting as a Compulsion) which directs a wielders actions to facilitate/accomplish it.

Aura: A minimum Essence of 1 and requires Attunement.

Aligning: If the wielder has the same Compulsion, they are automatically Aligned. Otherwise, each time it is wielded, it will attempt to Persuade the wielder using a form of telepathy. A Disastrous result indicates the wielder’s will is suborned by the item and the urges of the item now control them. If it succeeds, the wielder must follow the urgings or they wield the weapon under an Onus. IF they act against the nature of the Drive, they will be Scourged as well.

Authoritative Drive ties the item through affinity to a creative source – a font, Principal, etc. It requires a wielder to share the same Bond the item has and the nature of the bond and associated code/tenets limits its function.

Aligning:

  • Scourge =
  • Despondent Urge = Items manifested and bound through a Divine Principal

Aggrandized Drive ties the item through affinity to the wielder’s Aptitude. It is easier to create an item with such anchors restricting it.

Aura: A minimum Essence of 1; suppresses all powers without an Affinity with an Aptitude of the same or higher rating.
