Steel Realms

Upbringings in The Noble East, while not universal, share many elements. The level of technology, access to knowledge and basic resources that faiths , institutions, and communities and settlements CAN be universally accessible for those settling the known areas.

GM NOTE

Character Chronicle Players may just choose the ‘roots’ option or make a check.

Note: As a fantasy setting, The Steel Realms can have all upbringings almost anywhere – upbringings other than urban in city and town settings reflecting surrounding lands used as resources.

Upbringing Happenstances
Clash of the faiths for followers
Orrish raid on the lands of light
Lich Lords minions terrorize
War
Skirmishes for territorial and resource control are common – outright open warfare less so because the external threats of Orrish, Undead, and outsider raids and attacks create enough instability that the realms are slowly clawing back from.
= support for existing authorities
Civil unrest
Civil unrest is not altogether uncommon in The Noble East. In between flares in outside threats are the political, social, and economic machinations of competing faiths, institutions, families, and individuals all seeking fame, fortune, and power. Always caught in between is the average person, just trying to live their lives.
Demonstration against local authority & crack down
“A change in law attempts to remove rights and impose harsher conditions to extract more wealth. Fear is used to cow opposition, and finally outrage spills over to demonstrations and a crackdown”
= no trust of authority.”
Criminal enterprises clash
Civil war
“Two foes face off, rallying popular support for rulership”
