Common Knowledge / Easy Difficulty

Fresh warm blood awakens the blade, and only a few myths have come down from history of those who tried to wield its powers being consumed by them. The blade alone, even sheathed, is said to possess great powers – though nothing specific is ever mentioned. Many feel this blade itself is nothing more than myth. Its origins are a mystery, though some say that it was the Lord of Beasts himself that fought a dragon barehanded, fashioning a crude sword from the metal on which the dragons heart bleed out.

Janos Remmilard journeyed east toward The Vale as finding the blade, however before reaching The Vale he was eaten alive by a troll – in turn burned from the inside out by the blade. His boon companion Robb Bluestark took up his blade and led the Company of the Blue Whip to fame and fortune. The Company was disbanded when it’s core members were captured and skinned alive by Ork raiders and taken north.

The blade next appeared in Northgate Garrison, in the hand of Petyr Whitehand, the renowned ‘Blade of Beryl’. He perished in a battle against assassins, some say he was burned alive, though evidence of this is scant, as the entire city block that this occurred on went up in flames shortly thereafter. It next surfaced in the possession of one Lors Morninglight, an Umbakian knight. On an embassy to Gladnor, his band was attacked while sport hunting by a large group of brigands. Lors was seized while battling several of the creatures, and later his body was found crucified above the corpses of his companions.

The blade last appeared in the hands of Lucius Fairwind, a ship captain of Gwinn known for the many pirate ships he had sunk. During a battle with pirates in Waerl Bay, his ship was sunk. The surviving member of the crew (a magus, who escaped magically) described the final fate of the captain as ‘swimming for his life, slowly being torn apart by small sharks.’ The blade is presumed to have perished, lost forever at sea. These tales are passed down through songs and fables.
