The Rings of Holdout rings were known to have been crafted by the legendary The Salamander’s Guild. They were also called the “Rings of Brotherhoods End”. It was one of the last and weakest of the Eldritch items made by the guild to try and unify many of the criminal gangs, guilds, and brotherhoods of the Steel Realms.
Not all the rings were exactly the same in their powers, but most shared a few in common. A few took on the name of their owners, but the individual rings never had an item name themselves.
Real Purpose: All of these rings were matched with a singular arcane lock that could only be opened using the ring. It summoned a chest belonging to a guild/gang/brotherhood leader that would phase in and out at the wearer’s request, but only at a specific place where the chest was stored. These chests would store the most potent items of the wearer and their organization for ultra-safe keeping. The underlying magic that bound the rings to this effect was broken long ago and none of the chests has ever been found.
Attuning to the item leaves the wearers aura tainted with an evil mark. Detection of such will reveal them. No items of the ring can be used without Attunement.
Item Purpose: All of these rings were matched with a specific arcane lock that could only be opened by saying the word; This no longer functions.
