Bestial Urges is a collection of dangerous Rituals and Ceremonies related to some of the unique [mostly] Occult related species powers. These consist of a passages that allow the practitioner to reach out to a Patron/Sponsor to enact the specific Ritual of Orbit Serpentis Black – altering a collection of Orbs of Thought.
REQUIREMENTS: [su_permalink id="12965"]Literate – Fluent[/su_permalink] in the ancient dialect of Old Glaerdian. The oldest contain many scribbled notes in Sylvan and Druaeda (“Druidic”); Occult Aptitude 1 (or 5 Occult Allotted Essence) OR Divine Aptitude 1 (or 5 Divine Allotted Essence); A collection of Orbs of Thought to target.
Practitioner: The character attempting to use/enact the powers of the Grimoire.
Pact Source: Multiple; Each Ritual (Urge) has a different Patron/Sponsor; Orbit Serpentis Black is attached to Kerrang, the masculine and violent aspect of Merkaine.
SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCE: Reference works and basic exposure alone may only provide the foundation for gaining a [mechanics based] advantage. To reflect the practice and experience to gain that benefit consistently, typically requires a cost in Character Points.
d20 [specific] Requirements: Charisma 10, Intelligence 10
Ioun Sling 1/Short Rest – The character releases the orbiting stones and they fly at up to three targets within 30′. The character uses their Action, Bonus action and Reaction all at once. The stones are like sling bullets, doing D6/3 blunt damage plus an accuracy bonus equal to the characters Intelligence bonus.
Defensive Ioun Shield 1/Short Rest; lasts 10 rounds – The character may use their Reaction to grant themselves AC bonus = INT bonus against all attacks. This requires 3 dead, heavy stones to enact and requires their Reaction each round thereafter to keep the shield in place. Also, as a Reaction, the character may use a dead Ioun stone to deflect a blow (reduce result by one). The stone drops out of orbit and ends the shielding AC bonus. The remaining stones may be used in a similar fashion until the end of the 10 rounds.
CROWN OF FLAME 1/Short Rest; lasts 10 rounds – Can imbue each dead Ioun stone with Produce Flame cantrip (each on has its own concentration (max = Intelligence bonus) and causes it to appear as a white hot star shaped mote). They absorb one of each dice of fire damage on any hit. These can be used as a Reaction to either hurl it (gaining a bonus to damage = proficiency bonus) or as a Warding Flare (enemy attacker her has disadvantage on an attack and takes damage equal to the characters proficiency bonus). This takes a number of rounds to prepare = # stones.
In recent times, rumors have stated that appearances of pieces of the volume appeared at an illicit auction in Karolak (merchant city of the north).
It is generally unknown who the creators of the Urges are, though most of them are catalogued before the Fall of the East.
Like some other texts of Bestial Urges, it was built upon by corrupt druids of Darupet.
