The Mortis Navis of Helca, “The Ring of Dead Ships”, is an orbiting debris field that circles the planet of Helca. What is known to those outside the system is that captured debris of the Mortis Navis of Helca circles the planet unnaturally – almost as if a warning to those seeking it. Sometimes the debris is ejected, seemingly used as a weapon against those seeking to land there or pass nearby.

Over the ages, there have been multiple attempts – purposeful and accidental – of orbiting and landing upon Helca. Over time, the failures and the remains of the Druunad vessels that were abandoned have collided, been struck by debris, or jostled into position by the Awakened Helca itself and form a ring of debris called the Mortis Navis of Helca around the planet intermingled with captured asteroids and other small materials. It includes a bunch of starships from a massive battle between the planet of Helca and its sun about 9000 years ago between corporations seeking to forcibly settle the area. In the battle, they turned on each other, and all capital ships were lost, only a few smaller vessels escaped to stand before the Imperium justice. Sometimes it can be seen with the naked eye in the right season and light. Sometimes debris falls from it, creating “shooting stars” as they burn up.
