The Fallen East of the Steel Realms (Osteni) is now home to the invading Orrish races, and covered by the Curtain of Night. The east is the true ‘home’ of the majority of the Steel Realms races. It was settled first, and was home to all for many an age before the darkness came and the Orrish captured and settled it. Once the Orrish dwelt in the north in Orrishai, but the land became so depleted that they were forced to bleed themselves dry in a massive war that ended with the Fall of most of Osteni in CY 2331 and the proclamation of the End of Dominion in CY 2899. Dundarian is the tongue of those that settled here.
Because of the persistent fighting that was core to their existence in the early ages, the thoughts and faith of the east were possessed of a deep seated belief in the fundamentals of the great primeval duality expressed by many esoteric traditions of Helca. The Fallent East is most often considered to reference the The Valley of Sighs, the place of great battle and death, a strange and a massive Aether Well. Peerage, Titles, and Honors of Dominion were used for rulership. Famously, Al-Azhim’s Dark Spoils was said to have been produced in the east, before the fall.
It is whispered that a vast human empire survives to the far east on the continent of Ustermaya. Although it has taken thousands of years, its name has come to the Western Reaches. Whispered in fear by only a few, the place is referred to as “Gaernia”
