The town of North Bainside is situated on the north end of the coast of the Shelfers Cradle, where the woods end and 2 streams form a small delta that drops into Lake Caolite. ‘The Cradle’, as locals call it, is a bit insular; Though within its boundaries, the dryads, lizardfolk, and humans have made an accord and are all fierce allies.
Rulership: The town is ruled by a mayor and advised by a small group of elders called “the river-talkers” (a more traditional council-type rulership in Riverfolk communities)
Population: 1900 humans in town; 700 nearby farms and fishing huts along the shore.
> Most are involved in small logging (managed by the nearby Dryads of __) and fishing.
Briarwood Presence: This location has the presence of a typical Rhylian Briarwood.
The Water Spirit of Mielette: Those in North Bainside can see the Isle of Mielette in the distance, and know that it is to be avoided and left unexploited. They send small boats in good weather laden with symbolic and food offerings to the powerful spirit that dweels there. A few times, in storms where someone was swept out to the water or blown away off course, scented winds from the isle have blown them back.
Beyne River Origins: The humans of the area are the descendants of a fleeing clan of Rivermen from the Beyne River. It has been over a thousand years, and although many traditions remain, the locals have mixed with Gladnorian stock and they mostly resemble them. “Bainside” is a morphing over time that acknowledged their Riverfolk heritage on the Beyne River as “Beyneside”.
