Cats Cross (of Torrelson’s Ford)

Steel Realms

Located in Torrelson’s Ford, Cats Cross is where the Elon folk hang out in Torrelsons Ford. Cats Cross is a small maze of alleys, and a large open space where a small “market” of sorts sells goods of all types and is the play area for the children of Cats Cross. The encampment of the Elon folk, once a series of wagons, is now a permanent set of structure s(and a stable, coral and place for their wagons and visitors of their folk) named “Harruks Den“.

Madame Xanos: The elder of the Elon and their acknowledged leader.

Jerold Veers: The “captain” of the Elon folk – second in command. He is very much a traditionalist.

Old Wyla: Wyla is half Elon and near 60 – though she appears to be over 100 the way she complains. Old Wyla is an herbalist and a fortune teller. She is someone many go to for advice. She oversees all the hoarded knowledge the Elon have here and sells it to the highest bidder. Wyla won’t be found by anyone unless she wants to.

Wyla’s Remedies

The “shoppe” is fronted by Old Wyla’s family, it sells a few herbals healing and minor mystical trinkets to ward away bad luck.

Located in Torrelson’s Ford, Cats Cross is where the Elon folk hang out in Torrelsons Ford. Cats Cross was a field initially, where the wagons of the Elon folk were relegated to. It was originally a dumping ground for the sity. The Elon actually sifted through the junk pile and found, fixed, and recovered anything of value – leading to enough money to contemplate a permanent encampment. They kept taking the dumps that people would make, gradually moving their main encampment closer to the edge of the woods until it was suitable distanced.

  • Madame Xanos: The elder of the Elon and their acknowledged leader. She runs the ‘firsts’ faction of the folk at Cats Cross.
    – She is looking to change the immediate culture of the Elon and their perceived place in the local area to one more inclusive and positive, with a political voice.

    • Chrisoph Lumeski: Son of Anton, he is the “personal attendant” for madame Xanos.
  • Jerold Veers: The “captain” of the Elon folk – second in command. He is very much a traditionalist and runs the ‘seconds’ faction of the folk in Cats Cross.
    – He believes taking Madame Xanos is taking “The Folk” in the wrong direction.

Common Knowledge / Easy Difficulty

Anton Lumeski [Dead] Christoph’s father, and when retired, did not see eye to eye always with Xanos; The Folk are who they are – leverage their strengths! He was labeled “The Wrangler” – he was a legendary fixer.

Uncommon Knowledge / Average Difficulty

Madame Xanos is not fully Elon (only a few know!)

Dunstrand Rising Living World CHRONICLE > Dunstrand Rising is a Living World campaign set in Grand Duchy of Dunstrand in the Steel Realms of the [Fantasy] Steel Realms Setting (planet of Helca).

Since the incident with Bittermaw and the north, and the association of several PCs of the Pin Feather group (Saelish and part Elon – Danoir), the folk of Cats Cross have been cracked down on hard. Hassled by the watch, the law, and private citizens knowing the second class citizens of the Elon will do nothing in return. This has hurt their normal black market fencing, curtailed visiting Elon, and reduced the flow of goods and money in general through their community. Many were last to be buried after a few Ghouls were let loose among Torrelsons Ford (killing several of their folk in the process) when the Druids of Pranin destroyed the evil objects. Adding to the fact they were last to be buried when the initial Soul Scourge effects killed hundreds in the area, the Elon tempers are high and patience low. Run-ins with the law is common and jail often the result.
