Hotherwale’s population varies, but about 185 on average. It is a village, but populated more like a hamlet – there are a few satellite farm settlements. There are old orchards around the area, but most are wild now. The village does have a cartwright and a smithy, which makes it an ideal stopping point for trade as a half way point between Autumnade to the east and Torrelson’s Ford to the west. It has been the scene of several bandit raids over the years as its defenses are virtually nothing and its mostly subsistence farming except for the summer fruits. It has no Inn, just a tavern and a couple of bed and breakfasts. Caravans are welcome to camp near the market in an open field as a rest point.
