Creedson’s Refuge (ridge and lake of Crestwold)

Steel Realms
Creedsons Refuge (the area of Creedsons Lake and Creedson’s Ridge) is a territory off the Murchart River of Haridsen Vale in the Barony of Crestwold. It is mostly a muddy lowland as the ground slopes down from the Creedson Ridge that holds back the Murchart River flowing west towards Torrelson’s Ford. At the highest and dry point of the ridge were once several small settlements. Most of the settlements are in ruins. Like many places in Crestwold, the roads and paths are muddy outside of summer. There is very little trade in the winter.

Creedson Refuge Features

Creedson’s Ridge: This is a ridgeline that runs along the length of the Murchart river as it flows west. It mostly keeps the river from spilling into the Navin flood Plain, but heavy rains can cause the river to overflow its banks in the fall and winter.

  • Old Loflin Steading (Ruins): This is sometimes used as a camp spot for travelers. There is virtually nothing left of any structure except the stone foundation of the main house, though it has no roof. The Loflin family was an Umbakian family and one of the last fortified holdout of Umbakian power in the area. It was sacked hard, in retribution, when it finally fell.

Navin (Flood) Plain

This is a muddy flood plain with rich soil. There are a few stands of wild orchards and berries here.

Navin Crossing

This is just a shallow and easy fording point on the road for the Carrelish Creek, right before the creek spreads out into the Carrelish Tributary – a reed filled wetlands on the edge of the lake.

Carrelish Creek/Tributary

Reeds and cattails. Fertile fish and bird breeding grounds.

Hayfield Cross

This is a crossroads at the eastern edge of the area with sign markers and a raised and leveled area for a campsite. It is maintained by Hotherwale Village volunteers to facilitate trade and travel. Roads go east, west, and north.

Creedson Lake

This lake is a shallow (no more than 10m deep) that is about 7km wide and 6km across to Haridsens Vale on the southern boundary, which is part of the barony but inhabited mostly by halflings and some half elves. Every year, the halflings roll several barrels of their whiskey into the lake and the locals race to pick them up. There are playful water fights and a bit of a festival in the summer when this happens (as the water is warmest then).

Dunstrand Rising Living World CHRONICLE > Dunstrand Rising is a Living World campaign set in Grand Duchy of Dunstrand in the Steel Realms of the [Fantasy] Steel Realms Setting (planet of Helca).

The Gallantine Order has taken possession of some of this land as protectors. This was brokered by House Malor, Feather, and cemented with the planned marriage of Ulrich and the Marshal family that owns the Marshal Ferry Crossing consented by the Baron of Crestwold.
