Bladden Silver Mine

Steel Realms

The original Bladden Silver Mine in the ridge face was discovered by a human named Bladden, and there was a small camp of the same name there for generations. The ancient Bladden Silver Mine of the Gnaefor Ridge has been mined for 2000 years. During this time it brought some prosperity to the Gnaefor Stretch area.

It constantly is collapsing as the tunnels go deeper. Once, around CY 8200 an enclave of dwarves bought the mine and dug it out, mining it slowly and steadily until CY 9021. Since then, the mine has changed ownership several times and is rumored to be mostly played out and dangerous. There is a camp (still with the name Bladden) at the base of the ridge, and an overwatch on the ridge line above it. When the dwarves left, the finesmithing of the area ceased to exist at the level it once was. Only couple now exist, and the volume of trade is significantly less.

Silverhaft Enclave: For almost a thousand years, through war and famine, drought and more war, the Silverhaft dwarven enclave stood. Sometimes there was a local ruler, sometimes they just mined without rulers. The enclave stood, cut into the rock face and entrance to the mine. It was impregnable, or at least not worth the effort to storm or take if a ruler was paid their taxes. The mining proceeded apace for centuries when the dwarves controlled it, generating plenty of wealth in the Gnaefor Stretch region with multiple silver finesmith families making luxury and common goods for different stations. In CY 9021 the dwarves collapsed the enclave, the entire cliff face coming down in cracked slabs and breaking apart. The enclave was gone and only the mine entrance stood gaping. Like many dwarven and Ducateon temporary settlements, it was destroyed – not to be used by anyone else. A mining camp at the base replaced it, using the rubble.

They gained their name from the wound silver braid they would craft weapon handle and pommels with, enchanting them so that they would focus and amplify healing magics. They did not last, they more they operated, the faster they would wear and snap.
