This item is given to operatives and agents of House Malor in “the field”. It is a white pouch in which sits a white dove. The pouch is magical, it protects the creature within, keeps it nourished and clean and alive no matter what happens to the pouch – unless the it is destroyed. On the strap is a bone tube, wherein a message can be placed. If the bone tube is dropped into the pouch, the dove will take it by any means it can, take flight, and return to its handler or the nearest Rookery of House Malor. It is a one way trip for the messenger, though it can be replaced at any of the rookery’s of House Malor (not just the three primary breeding rookery’s – any local Den of House Malor with one will suffice).
This item most common, when worn as a symbol of association with House Malor, a white fabric pouch with a grey dove or pigeon embroidered onto it. The seal of House Malor on the other side. When trying to be unobtrusive, the pouch or satchel is a dull, unassuming color and the embroidery is small and placed only one side – typically the side against the holder to conceal it.
Attunement: This item requires 1 Essence for Attunement. These items are institutionally bound to the order first.
Found pouches typically release their contents once opened if the Attuned owner is not nearby (within 10km) or is dead. Attempting to use the pouch for storage other than the dove does the same thing.
Each embroidered bird on the pouch/satchel allows for an additional bird messenger.
Any seeking to unravel the mystical aura of the satchel/pouch will discover that the bird seal is a homing beacon of sorts. It allows a member of House Malor to scry its location.
The dove is also a recording device. Through its eyes, House Malor can access its memories of its last flight, from the person dropping the message tube in, where they were, and the entire trip back to the point when they arrived at their destination.
