The Blue Wall (Vigil’s End)

Steel Realms
Located on Ustermaya .

Often called “Vigils End”, the Blue Wall of the North… this terrifying edifice was raised with powerful Wyld magic by the Giants of Dour and Frost, Druids and animal archetypes as the wave of undeath spread from the Lords of Winter. Little is known, other than to approach it is death – final death – for the true undead. It is a glacial sheet 100m thick and 300m tall. Its length is warrened, and is the sacred home of the remaining frost giants. Those living along the wall for its defense, other than the giants, tend to adhere to the Freelander Way.

Unique Creatures and Encounters

A few of the Walking Pinelings still stand vigil along its length and behind it. They often make the slow trek from the Blue Wall into the lands of the Lich Lords and the Hinterlands to serve and eyes and ears for the protectors of the north – for they are virtually undetectable to the Lich Lords or their minions and the living alike. It is said that its creation created many strange effects – both natural and magical – that have vanished over time, and a few that persist to this day.

Pervasive Knowledge / Very Easy Difficulty

Often called “Vigils End”, the Blue Wall of the North… this terrifying edifice was raised with powerful Wyld magic by the Giants of Dour and Frost, Druids and animal archetypes as the wave of undeath spread from the Lords of Winter. Little is known, other than to approach it is death – final death – for the true undead. It is a glacial sheet 100m thick and 300m tall. Its length is warrened, and is the sacred home of the remaining frost giants. They guard the north with their last few battle horns, horns which when blown over the ice of the Blue Wall form the dreaded Hoarwind. Those living along the wall for its defense, other than the giants, tend to adhere to the Freelander Way.

Rumors persist of the sect of The Friendless being employed in the never ending war against the Lich Lords.

Common Knowledge / Easy Difficulty

The Hearth of the Frozen Fire is known to serve as a channeling point for the power of the Blue Wall away from its environs itself. It helps to keep the once murderous forces of Theodrose the Spectre Lord, king of Kalascor in the north, bound to the people and land he now serves, and to warn him when the power of the Fangedfrost shifts its normal course.

Uncommon Knowledge / Average Difficulty

Vigilite is Tunnelite only found in the most remote far northern areas. Many deposits were created when the Blue Wall was formed and glaciers and icequakes pushed them into rivers and the sea’s edge.
