All the Lich Lords of the Fallen North “worship” Djerduth. They are all self-styled lords (‘Kings’) of the formal fiefs of Dundaria of the fallen kingdom of Dundaria (called Lichrya now) in the north, dividing up the lands for rulership in a parody of what they once were. Their realm names have been purposefully obscured – only they themselves know their former identities. The ascendancy of these Lich Lords has contributed to the rise of Restless Spirits of Helca, a level of control or possession of the Undead of Helca, and their Anger Manifest across the north and in the path of the undead. Lich Lords are the equivalent of divine principals on helca, their power goes nowhere else. The The Ragged Robes are now those clergy of Djerduth having taken the Cold Bargain of the Lich Lords when they first took the north – they are all thousands of years old and are used as administrators of projects and resources. In their early days, they made many Exanimate Items, but infighting and a gathering of enemies to occupy them over time has reduced such things in recent times.
They are most commonly known as Soul Reaver (thought to be their leader), The Empty One, Reek, Blood Eye, and Whisper. History says there was a sixth lord that could summon the cold of the Fangedfrost to crack open stone, but that they were murdered by the others in their lust for power and so began the undoing of the trust of each other.
They are thought of in terms of gods, for it is a god’s stolen energy that fuels their powers. They only represent a small number of “followers”, those desperate enough to trade power for eternal life or willing to trade their own lives for the death of their enemies. They are not true gods, and despite almost always being referenced collectively, do not present a Unified Pantheon. Perhaps once unified, they have made obvious their rivalry and lack of cooperation over time. Virtually nothing moves in the Fallen North, making it difficult to send spies into it without the undead knowing. Often, the Mistress of Death Idol is used as a holy symbol for their sacred places.
Aspects: Cold, stasis, relentless, revenge, prolonged life; Reckoning and confrontation – The Lich Lords have taken over the confrontational aspect of the world in their role of nemesis. Malek feels this has been stolen!
The ghoul agents of the Lich Lords are trained at the Gleasone Convent by the four lichlings once of Aerna, to fit in among the lands of the living as spies and assassins – these are the Eyes of Gleasone. Those seeking eternal life are the newest recruits and lasting life is how they extend their power.
