Orrish (Orkandu/Ork and Ogobleen/Goblin)

In the iVerse, the Orrish are a basic Order of Being, part of the humanoid and seem to be of the Faeybrin related genus. One of the original and oldest races of the cosmos, they are hearty, primitive and adaptive to a high degree. The Orrish constitute a single race with three distinct phenotypes. These Phenotypes are generally referred to by the common names of Ork, Goblin, and Ogre. The most common of the Orrish is the Goblin, constituting roughly 70 percent of the Orrish population. Orks make up 35 percent of the Orrish population base and Ogres the final 5 percent. The Goblin and Ork societies have developed mechanisms to maintain their genetic profiles that may eventually force these two races to truly become individual species. Though pure bloodlines cannot themselves be devolved into Duathi, their lineage can be mixed with human as part of an amalgam to add some corrupted racial traits.

The Orrish were originally the Feyrish, along with the Faelen (Human blood) and Faerie (Elven blood). Rebellious and primitive, they have carved out their own place through alliance with evil and violent otherworldly powers and violently reject their shared ancestry. Generally, they view their human cousins as weak chattel, and their elven cousins as mentally deficient in their embrace and transformation to Sylvan entities.

Common Biology

Reproduction and Lifepsan

Orrish females are fertile once a month, and Orrish males are always fertile. Orrish are viviparous, and gestation takes 8 months. Orrish females will often produce fraternal twins (50%), or single offspring. The sex ratio of birthed young is 35% female and 65% male. Male offspring have a high attrition rate before adulthood, so the sex ratio of the Goblin and Ork societies is 50% female and 50% male. Orrish enter adolescence at 10 years of age and reach full adulthood at 13 to 14. Females average 8 pregnancies over the course of their life, and a maximum lifespan of about 80. Orrish males can live to as long as 130 years, however, due to their ultra-competitive societies and penchant for violence, their lifespan is usually less than 40-50 years.

Physiology and Senses

Orrish naturally have extremely sensitive hearing and this has aided in their nocturnal survival. Orrish jaws are well adapted to an omnivorous diet, with extremely strong jaw muscles with sharp incisors and canines that are designed for ripping and tearing. The jaw has two molars designed for crushing hard material. Their hands have four fingers with a single opposable thumb.
