Order of Being/Higher Orders

All things come from some native plane (a Sphere/Dimension expression) where their natural affinity stems, their comfort is greatest, and from which their particular modalities (based on space, time, energy, perception, etc.) are inherent and optimized. The particular nature of The Pattern is endless Spheres and Dimensions, but all beings fit within a certain order. This order determines their beginnings (such as aptitudes, species, etc.) and shapes their progress. All beings within these orders are capable of controlling the energies (chi, focus, mana, and synergy) and their potential aptitude; the greater the order, the more power they can generally wield (generally less limits on starting and improving abilities). Humans (Faelen stock) and our known universe of contemporary society, are considered a weak order sphere. When dealing with The Void, these orders represent greater powers of nullification and annihilation. Higher order beings naturally have affinity to a “higher plane” – a plane which reflects their complex existence and would be alien to lower order beings… and those beings which interact with the lesser order beings in their native planes do so through acquiring Paradox. Singular Higher Order beings/forces are known as Prime Entities. It is possible for an entity to increase their Order of Being through Transcendence.

  • Idea: Illusions, conceptual

    > Basic [esssence-ref] = 0-1; Can possess no material or mystical Aptitude ever
  • Base: Faelen (humans), Orrish, most common/normal material creatures are of a Base order of being

    > Basic [esssence-ref] = 2-60; Can possess a single primary Kinetic or Void material Aptitude; the other is anathema and alien in familiarity forever (most basic creatures have 5 basic essence).

  • Advanced: Dragons, merovin, rare species and unique beings

    > Basic [esssence-ref] = 6-90; Can possess multiple primary aptitudes or acquire material Aptitude easier – though still only possess a single primary Kinetic or Void material aptitude; the other is anathema and alien in familiarity forever.
  • Complex: “Demonic”, “angelic”, very rare material species, unique beings

    > Basic [esssence-ref] 16-120; Can possess familiarity with both Kinetic and Void, possess any type of Aptitude, though most focus on one of either Kinetic or Void. Possessing some measure of or familiarity with all Aptitudes.
  • Profound: “Divine”, singular (unique and un-repeated pattern) beings or manifestations

    > Basic [esssence-ref] 40-400; No limits on the familiarity and acquisition of any Aptitudes.

Serving/Time in Service

Elan Building: This particular activity, along with Mystic Offerings to or time serving a Prime Entities, Time in Service to Prime Institutions or Entities, acquiring knowledge and experience arduously and over great amounts of game time (beyond Character Inception), Acts altering the outcome of great conflicts or the lives of many in general, and enhancing capabilities to an epic level can all build Elan.
