Cryptography

Understanding Cryptography means the character is adept at pattern recognition, algorithm design, and the common methods to encrypt/decrypt information and transport it. Competent characters have a chance to passively spot an attempt at encoding information by simply reading/viewing what may appear to be a normal text. This skill may also provide minor assistance in games which have full complex strategies such as Go and chess.

Information can be digital text or video, hard written, or any format that can be reorganized. Most typically it is used to secure communication based on Language and Literacy capabilities. In trying to break Encryption, a character uses their Cryptography skill, reducing their effective skills level by the level of encryption. Automated programs can also be used without living creature intervention to replace or assist decryption.

ALL SKILLS ARE BOUND BY A CHARACTER'S Frame of Reference EXPERIENCE.

The same function may be accomplished using Artificial Intelligence, mechanical means or computerized logic processing.
