Classes (also referred to as ‘Archetypes’) are a form of Character Path. They focus a character learning into a path that is natural for the character concept and their adoption is encouraged. Character Experiences incorporate many Best Practice elements. These may incorporate or limit specific upbringings and other elements.

Archetypes are directly tied to the (i)D20 Class System, and are the equivalent of the sub class options that correlate to “School”, “Archetype”, etc.
Not every class is going to be as powerful as every other class in every situation. The desire to have an equivalency is generally from a combat specific perspective and accomplished through a strictly mechanics-based approach.
There will be points in time where not all classes either make sense or are effective. In a kinetic world, the warriors reign supreme. That is one of the challenges of role-playing is finding not something that’s not straightforward that leverages material approaches to everything, which is where our terra-norm world typically sits.
Being creative and making best use of the powers and capabilities of other classes is part of the fun.
