Vapors of Djerduth

Steel Realms

The Vapors of Djerduth are a persistent effect that manifests when the worst of the rituals that invoke the power of Djerduth to provide existence beyond the grave are performed, the ritualist and/or the new undead gain an effluvium of decay that cannot be countered, no matter the Essence they consume. Djerduth does NOT abide undeath, but his normal attention to such things is peripheral at best. Those seeking undeath through passing through him to gain a tiny measure of his power to hold the grave at bay will have this noticeable effect that makes them reek of moist, decaying grave earth.

When such creatures become feral, their saliva has the power to “infect” the bodies they may resort to feeding off of. Such bodies have a good chance to rise as zombies or skeletons that can be commanded by the undead creature that made them, reeking of the same grave-stink that gave rise to them. They usually employ them to try and gain living bodies to feed on or to escape the environs that may have brought on their feral condition.

Those undead made by the Lich Lords do NOT possess this quality.
