Ducateon Weathering

Steel Realms
Ducateon Weathering is a alloying of steel that prevents rust AND corrosion (they are immune to the “Battleworn” condition) that is a closely guarded secret of the war smiths of the Ducateon of the Steel Realms. Also called “green weathering”, it combines the combination of chromium, copper, nickel, and phosphorous and it causes the item to take on a faint green glint. Additionally, a coating of Duxamet is applied to weapons edges while not in use. The warriors of Mizras especially prize these items. Base weapons are non-magical, and the most common of the Ducateon armaments.
COST = 300% (min 100sc) to non-Ducateon followers of Horus, Irkribu and Mizras, 400% to others.

Duxamet: This super fine “steel powder” is made from the leftovers of Ducateon Weathering. It uses finely powdered Ducateon Crystals that have been Battlesung, each time the edge is sharpened or surface cleaned it is applied.
COST = 200sc

Flame Sources for Weathered Blades

There have been many solutions to maximizing the use of the flaming blade properties of these weapons. The warrior brothers (especially The Steeled Hand) and priests of Mizras have their own shops versions of all of these that work with their own prayers and ways. In the north, members of The Glaciers Guard are given priority to access to these weapons. Forge Sweat is the preferred oil for these flaming weapons.

  • A scabbard that holds oil and strikes a spark as the sword is pulled forth.
  • A pommel that holds oil that when depressed runs down the blade and a striker built into the cross guard.
  • A gauntlet that activated it with oil and spark as well.
  • A parrying dagger that has a oil and striker mechanism as well.
  • Oil soaked sash wrapping the attack area of the weapon.
  • A sharpening stone and crystal that coats and sparks.
