The Gallants Final Strike: Gruxxand was wounded with a ancient living weapon of the Elves in CY 9176, when House Malor of Dunstrand sent a last few of the fallen Gallantine Order to assassinate him. Using information pulled from the mind of a mercenary drunkard who traveled but briefly with the Gallants, they discerned a weapon glimpsed in his lab he had been in and used it against the lich.
Another Army Attacks: In CY 9/9179 another set of forces of all races assailed his fortress. Ynth itself was starting to wither on its edges. The Soul scourge ended when the wounded necromancer/lich/demigod was killed in another mass combat that cost the lives of thousands.
Devoured by Mog Creoch: Gruxxand was devoured by Mog Creoch. The great worm manifested as a direct result of the lich killing an army of thousands on the edge of Ynth, attempting to offer their bodies as a substitute for his own death in a twisted process of achieving greater immortality. The Worm erupted from the roots under him, consumed the bodies, but could not be stopped or turned and ate the lich in the end. The Godspeak Accord was broken but not one god moved to counter Mog Creoch.
In the battle, the great worm grew massive in his feeding, and came for Gruxxand after nothing else moved for a kilometer in every direction. The lich was devoured, as was all life nearby, leaving a scar upon the body and psyche of the living forest of Ynth and the world itself. The act of consuming all the dead, undead, and divine energies caused Mog Creoch to literally explode in the end, though Ynth countered the brunt of it, preventing further loss of life.
The Scourge Cleansed: A wave of mystic power rolled over the entire world of Helca, rolling back the Soul Scourge. It affected every living entity, like the dreams of the Soul Scourge once did. This pressed upon the psyche of everything it touched. Having learned from the Soul Scourge, the effect was almost universally rejected by all.
The Mark of the Worm: Those few that were overwhelmed were left with “The Mark of the Worm” – also known as “Death’s Bite” – to remind them and others of their failure.
The Hunger: It’s {september equiv.} Common Year 9179 > Something has happened. You know not what, but a powerful mystic force has slammed into everyone – finding you wherever you may be; In bed, in the street, asleep, eating, working or in the midst of romance. All at once, you feel as if the sun and all light have been swallowed – everything is dark. Your belly burns with a hunger you have never felt before, a desire to consume all within reach, a great emptiness that must be filled. Around you in the darkness are motes of life. You’re not sure if anything you’ve ever heard of is comparable to this… perhaps the Soul Scourge, or being near a gods’ manifestation. Do you feast… or resist the hunger?
The burning subsides as you close your eyes, shutting out all visions except the cool, calm darkness. When the hunger passes, you open your eyes and realize you are awake and whole, unspoiled by the Mark of the Worm.
Your slavering maw stretches wide, and you grab hold and devour everything around you. On and on, you grab and stuff yourself, trying to staunch the hunger that seems to never end. After what seems like a lifetime of trying to eat your fill, a sharp pain tells you that something is wrong. You have burst the seams of your spirit, and it has ruptured your body in turn. You sense a thread in your own weave within The Pattern being severed. Just as the seams of your body begin to split, you awake screaming in a covering of sweat, with the taste of blood in your mouth.
