Tunnelite is one of the strange Materials of the Realms.

Tunnelite, also called “Vigilite”, and “Ducateon Way Stones”, are a form of mineralized rock sodalite. Tunnelite is typically infused with alchemical elements to trigger its effect – to fluoresce in the dark. Tunnelite is mostly found in northern climates, along sea shores and river basins.

The Ducateon Way Stones are raw Tunnelite, and only fluoresce and are tenebrescent under UV light – these are mostly used in the Narduar Holt of the Ducateon in the north.

Vigilite is Tunnelite only found in the most remote far northern areas. Many deposits were created when the Blue Wall was formed and glaciers and icequakes pushed them into rivers and the sea’s edge. Vigilite is Tunnelite that glows a blue hue, reflecting the magics of the Blue Wall. The Fellowship of the Blue Chain of the north have a way of using Vigilite to detect and find others with similar aptitude.

It is believed that many of the Earth’s Gift rings also have a trace of Tunnelite in them for Ducateons’ to perceive them from a distance.

Redlaen Tunnelite

Redlaen Tunnelite that is made by the Dwarves of the Enclave of Redlaen. It is infused with powered blue Labradorite the dwarves mine and a mix of tin and silver. Full suits of armor made with it has the property of glowing blue, dimly in a 2m radius and illuminates other moving forms within 3m that the wearer of the helm can see but only after they have worn the helmet for 100 hours, after which it turns their facial and head hair a light blue, and the veins in their eyes turn blue.
