CY 9000 The Orrish and Giants Attack in Rhyl
This took place in Meargensdale Vale during the Long Summer of CY 9000. The battle of “Giantsford” took place when the Orrish and fallen giants of formor assaulted the vale while awakening the spirits of dead giants in the area. It was gradually building for years, as abandoned Ducateo and Dwarven mines and settlements were captured and used by the Orrish. They were finally defeated around the end of the year, when Seliach the World Watcher, wielding his famous singing sword, his band lead one of three assaults and cast the Orrish and formors down on the shores of an underground river that many of their foes chose to die in as opposed to fight. The river has several references in older manuscripts as a place to be avoided. The place of “Giantsford” refers to a seemingly shallow place of fording that in fact, had a drop off deep enough and swift enough to drown giants in. Its exact location is vague – perhaps The Deeping influence being nearby?
