Norlath the Many Handed

PanGe’Diam – A Trip in the Continuum.

Norlath the Many Handed rules over a settled domain; From his Mirror Tower can see afar and oversees the orders, controlled settlements with a code of law that is enforced. He is comfortable in his stability, and seeks to maintain an ordered and well-controlled sphere of influence where those in it reflect the peace through strength he imposes upon the area.

Although called the “many handed” he has many tentacles in reality.

Known Dinosaur Faction Alliances/Association:

Apparent Desire/Motive(s): Personal power, accumulation of technology and comforts

Apparent Dread/Fear(s): Public embarrassment (vengeful), being “out-teched”

Known Backstory

Known Arrival Story: Norlath was an explorer of his people before the world drew him in. He has a reputation for him and his ‘team’ being adventurous and daring and using as much tech as they can find. Rumors say he came from a high tech world himself and seeks to return to it.

Minions, Assets, & Resources

Minions

  • Theran, “The Mirror Master” – Theran is a master of mirrors, the security expert of Norlath. He constructs the ‘mirrors’ that capture information and sends it to The Tower of Mirrors where Norlath can see all that happens.
  • Loksos, “The Raid Maiden” – Loksos is a blood thirsty bitch who reveals in violence and combat. She leads all his war parties and raiders.
  • Harold The Black – Harold is a stalwart rock, ordered, thoughtful, and head of the military that defends Norlath’s lands.
  • Arnought Far-Slayer – A master of distance killing. An assassin by some, he is also used as a herald and diplomat. It is said his unblinking many faceted bug eyes make him impossible to surprise.

Base of Operations

The Tower of Mirrors: Named after the famed room of mirrors where Norlath manipulates them with his ‘many hands’ to capture information from all the smaller ones carried by his minions.

Beyond Common Knowledge

Warning
Obscure/Hidden Knowledge is not generally available in known references; It is not necessarily Forbidden.
DO NOT READ BEYOND THIS POINT unless a character has the capability to gain such knowledge [through association, organization, or relation] if they do not possess it themselves or the reader intends to participate in scenarios using this material as a PLAYER! GM Narration will typically provide relevant information by check or story.

Actual Desire/Motive(s): Norlath wants to expand a domain of law and order through intelligent negotiations and offering stability – albeit through a type of ‘surveillance state’.

Actual Dread/Fear(s): They don’t want to return to their place of origin – afraid of getting tossed out through PanGe’Diam, correcting itself. Norlath is afraid of PCs coming to his lands and spreading chaos and instability using either tech he does not possess (he would like them to join him) or powers he cannot understand (he would like to destroy them).

Complete Backstory

True Arrival Story: Norlath was pulled into the world when he was exploring the event horizon of a black hole in his universe. He ventured too close, following a strange reading of something stable where it should only be falling into the black hole. Trapped and assured of his own death, in the midst of utter chaos and destruction, a doorway was offered to him and he stepped through it, with the implanted knowledge that he must sacrifice his wife/partner and crew for him alone to survive.

Norlath discovered the Apophian Maw and it has become the centerpiece to expanding his area of control.

Connection to the Psychic Network of PanGe’Diam:

Agreement of Non-Intervention

Not a sworn word (empowered) compact, but informal agreement. Both Norlath the Many-Handed and Sabbat the Wise know of each other. They have agreed not to directly intervene against each other as their territories are far apart and interests different. As “corrective recruits” are summoned to the world, they often try to intercept them and recruit them. Those not recruited to one side or the other are exterminated unless they know of the reason for the correction they were summoned for.
