Empowered Magic: Because the D20 normal rest and recovery times have a character regain their spells so rapidly, magic was nerfed so that many spells that [in the past] used to be fail once/failed for the duration are now fail once/re-check each round. This is not the case with the “Gritty Realism” approach for Incarna.

See Identifying Items for basic dweomer/aura assessment and the Items and Services for the setting the character is in. IDENTIFY is a ridiculously powered spell for 1st level, the movement towards the Incarna rituals is an attempt to balance that out.

LONG LIFE THREAD SPELL IMPACT: The Long Life Thread Impact changes the outcome of d20 Raise Dead/Revivify and equivalent: Creatures with a Long Life Thread (ex: Elves) cannot be targeted by either of these spells (they simply fail). They require a full Resurrection to pull such deeply embedded threads in The Pattern.
