Nurth Shackles

Nurth Shackles are a set of scenarios involving the Nurth in the Riverdan fief of Bondeu – specifically the Burren Canyon.

Burren Family is leaving offerings for the Nurth to keep them at bay and prevent them from raiding the family crypt. They are poor and do not want to attract attention to the crypts as it may start an investigation which would undermine their authority.
> The family may be able to let loose the Nurth on the city (staying holed up n the keep) or attack a different settlement as a means of helping any of their allies…

Scenario: Nurth Alliance

Scenario: Nurth Lair

Drawn by Erdon the Formless…

While exploring the family official crypts, the PCs will stumble across a yawning tunnel, recently collapsed INTO the crypts. The Nurth have been taking the food offerings the family leaves for their ancestors that they normally know some of the poor take.

Five people have been taken and eaten by the Nurth. One of them was recently homeless member of a stone mason’s family who had an argument with his father and left the home. Its happened before, but this time he did not come back after a couple weeks. The parents, Keith and Ella Garlans, have searched. The person they hired vanished as well – now they are demanding that the Burren family do something. Burren family says after the PCs get what they want from the crypts, can they look into the disappearances?

A Champion Arises: G’neath Wormtongue, priest of the Black Mother, has had a vision that has rallied several groups to his cause. The tunneling Toothed Wormme children (who can sense magic because they are repulsed by it so cant get close) brought back word that a thing of great power lay in the caverns somewhere. The great hunger of the Worme Feast (his death) has fallen upon G’neath – he must devour all he can before his time has run. The more he devours, the greater will be his reward in the cool darkness beyond.

> He has acquired The Bridle of Mankrin!

Intact Entrance

The entrance to the crypts looks old and weather worn. There is broken crockery and bones around the entrance, which is covered by a portcullis with a chain and massive lock.

The Nurth are so skinny, they can slip between the bars and have grabbed a few who came for the food.
Animals bones gnawed on
Broken dishes – some with religious symbols; ‘honorifics’ – offerings for family spirits (common old hold out from before Lightbringers)
DC 25 fight was here, maybe more than one and it was obscured!

Opening the Crypt

Key will take several minutes, the lock has not been opened and is rusted and worn.

@Open: Portcullis will make a lot of noise if nothing done to oil/silence it = warning
