Silvered Weapons

“Silvering” a weapon encases the weapon surface in a layer of silver. Some creatures find the healing elements of silver inimical to themselves and are vulnerable to it on some level. Any normal weapon can be “silvered” by coating it in silver using a chemical and alloy forging process. Lesser efforts will wear easily though, as silver is a soft metal. In such cases, a weapon must have the silvering process re-applied after a certain amount of Major [Hits].

Crafters can learn to coat weapons in silver, to gain their legendary properties of healing and life against fell creatures. In some cases, silver does extra damage against creatures or causes additional effects. The learning of such things is often not part of the normal Craft and Trade practices – a secret held in reserve for only the best student. Or it must be learned through expensive trial and error, using the smithing/metal-working skills.
