Defensive Measures (Armor; Suits, Shields, & Screens)

Defensive Measures are Items used to actively or passively absorb, deflect, and/or reduce the effect of incoming attacks and damage. Suits, shields, and screens are worn, held, or projected. They can be operated manually or managed by automation, external intelligence or mystic means. Many properties of defensive objects are matched by Weapons to bypass or negate them. Defensive measures can be made be made and/or with improved Technology or Mystic Empowerments. Access to defensive measures varies by Availability.

Making of Defensive Measures

Crafters, suppliers, and tradesmen use from large scale production facilities to Work Stations and Toolkits to make and Repair/Patch the structure and Resilience of objects. Those seeking even more realism may use rules for tracking wear and tear.

  • Crafter’s Mark: The use of an item made by a famous and recognized crafter (or their business/guild/school) may also be the equivalent of a Prestige Marker.

Unusual Materials: Principal Entities leave behind Primaeth remains from direct engagements that can be fashioned into powerful Notable armaments of unique nature or Standard Augmentation. Bone items of Colossi, Dragons, and Trolls are examples of this as well.

Technology: Technology allows for the use of advanced in material and process science to achieve a higher degree of quality with less time and cost, and makes it more widely Available. For example, for the same relative price point a riot shield made of plastic has all the encumbrance of a light shield and takes punishment as medium armor. Advanced composites may automatically grant that effects of Durable or Resilient with no extra weight or encumbrance.
