The Painted Touch

The Painted Touch is an invocation of the Vexation. It is minor and annoying, but effective as a minor deterrence. In addition to the physical manifestation, it inflicts a Faeymark upon the target as well – useful in reducing resistance to future, more potent effects. This can be seen using Faey Sight. It requires a successful unarmed attack by the wielder of The Painted Touch. The area touched does not automatically correlate to the area affected.

This is a trivial means of scaring away outsiders. Often the Faeymark inflicted are gone within a standard year cycle.

Varied Manifestations: Some of the painted colorings also leave textures (wood, hair, fur, sparkles, etc.) that are appropriate to the locale they defend. A sparkle effect is used to mark those that seek to disturb the Faerie Homes and Lands at night.

Resist vs. DC 10 Charisma > Fail = +1 Faeymark & target has area colored; The target cannot acquire more than 1 Mark in total in this way from any given source.
