These ancient records referenced in Rastillion’s Disabolique come in multiple forms – scrolls, books, tablets of stone and metal, etc. They are sometimes complete, sometimes incomplete, copies and translations that may contain errors or purposeful obfuscations. The lesser works all involve the use and sacrifice of physical properties of the reader (attributes, CP, form and appearance). Though valued by many, those who do not possess aptitude may benefit from some of these. Those greater works tap into dark spirits which demand portions of the soul of a mystic practitioner, those with a flavor of high occult and divine aptitude.

Common Costs/Requirements of the Knowledge Contained

SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCE: Reference works and basic exposure alone may only provide the foundation for gaining a [mechanics based] advantage. To reflect the practice and experience to gain that benefit consistently, typically requires a cost in Character Points.

  • Average Intellect – Those of low scholarship or mental capacity will find learning and practicing knowledge contained in the volumes to be difficult. That said, many that provide more unique powers do so as a focus for rote ritual and summoning, requiring nothing more than an average intellect.
