Bittermaw’s Greater Key Journals
Bittermaw’s Greater Key Journals was written by
Bittermaw, it contains two collected volumes, one of his search for the
Formulaes of the Cloud, and of his his journey of discovering the entity he refers to as “the Eye”, using the tome, to gain power and his freedom from his masters, the
Lich Lords, and their
Cold Bargain. It is part the collection referred to as
Tomes of Bittermaw.
“The Path to the Clouds”
In CY 8909 Bittermaw called forth from the Fields of Blood three bodies. The “Three Bittermen” – Wights – were once buried once with a Kaaldian chief to protect his body from despoil – their duty is more powerful than lich lords call through the Cold Bargain. They failed in their charge of protecting the buried chief and the tome buried with him, Bittermaw tricked their spirits to let him by as he himself was not alive (their charge was to protect the barrow “against the living”).
He looted the barrow mound of the book. He charmed the spirits into believing their failed duty should pass to him as he took the chiefs torc and the book buried with him. He would give them new bodies to walk beyond the confines of the grave and their charge as The Risen, and continue to “protect the world of the living from the dangers of the tome” (Bittermaw was not living – and bound their new oath so that he could not be attacked by them). They serve him now as soldier wights since CY 8909.
- There is a scroll with a summary of Dane Vistler – the person the tome was buried with.
- There is a section containing a full description of the travels through the northlands, including sundered cities and settlements long lost to time and history.
- There is a map of the Sundered City he found the library in, in the Hinterlands, and the library itself is detailed in 3d sketches.
- There is a copied scroll of the original reference (he left the original in place to avoid angry spirits who may attack even an undead to defend their ancient charge) he found in the library with a brief history of ___ and his resting place and the strange tome buried with him.
- A hand made map by Bittermaw, with notes of consulting a few libraries of mages in the north he killed (including how he relished the fear their mysterious death’s caused), plotting places buried under ice and snow, and the final resting place of the barrow mound .
- Details that confirm there are pieces that make up a larger RELATED collection.
“The Eye of Freedom”
Voice of The Eye: [Journal; ramblings] The Eye must cover it’s mission. “I am transiting”, “I need an anchor point”. “I heed a point of light, perspective from a light particle.” Travel to your planet, drop unto you. I must feel warmth. Then back to cold emptiness in the night sky to a far point of light.
- There is a second book – Headless becomes formless with second book!
- There have been others, though they failed to complete the ritual!
- Visions: The headless one with the all seeing eye
The Eye offers warlock level “Boundless”/”Endless” Patron
