iCore Outcome Resolution Method
This material is not meant for Players or GMs; This is part of design, development and testing and is intended for that audience to assist in creating and assessing Incarna materials.
Status: READY FOR USE 12-19-2022 (not under revision or review)
Outcome scales represent both basic SUCCESS/FAILURE determination as well as a measure of Quality of Success. The iCore Outcome Resolution measure is 100% unique. It employs the original approach for Incarna resolution. It is the primary iCore expression of the Incarna Outcome Resolution method.
Resolution Check = A single check using the full spread of 1 (best value) – 100% is made and compared to a value in the iCore Resolution Table.
Negative Representation? To -1 to -X (the most reduced/diminished).
Zero Representation? There is a specific zero (“0”) value on the method scale, between -1 and 1.
- Disastrous: Worst possible outcome; critical non-success. Equivalent to -3 or -2 Measures. Classically referred to as a “Fumble”.
- Natural 100: Always a Failure and Disastrous; GM determines the impact of a Disastrous outcome (if there is one). Equivalent to -3 Measures.
- Adjusted 100 or more: Always a Failure; GM determines if it is Disastrous and its impact. Equivalent to -2 Measures (as Dire or -3 if GM determines it is appropriate). There is very, very little that should adjust the actual check value directly.
- Failure: The check is higher then the Simple Result value. The most common level of representation of NON-SUCCESS on the scale. Equivalent to -1 Measures.
- Simple: The check is lower than or equal to the Simple Result value. Equivalent to +1 Measures.
- Average: The check is lower than or equal to the Average Result value. Equivalent to +2 Measures.
- Major: The check is lower than or equal to the Major Result value. Equivalent to +3 Measures.
- Full: The check is lower than or equal to the Full Result value. Equivalent to +4 Measures.
- Extraordinary: The check is higher than than or Full Result value. The least level of representation of SUCCESS on the scale. Equivalent to +5 Measures. Classically referred to as a “Critical”. The GM will determine how the Extraordinary outcome manifests through Narration and action type.
- Natural 01: Always a Success and Extraordinary; GM determines the impact of a Extraordinary outcome (if there is one).
- Adjusted 01 or less: Always a Success; GM determines if it is Extraordinary and its impact. There is very, very little that should adjust the actual check value directly.
Singular Representation? None.
